  • A review of The Gospel of Michael

So I loved this short story. Whenever I love something, I wax enthusiastically about how original it is, how utterly important it is to read, and of course, how much I really, truly loved it. And The Gospel of Michael -- by Ceska -- is one of those rare stories that manages to combine a science-fiction element with an emotional one. As any writer knows, that's incredibly hard... read
  • A review of 13.45 (part 2)
by Han Shot Second on 03/04/2012
It's hard to review a short story that seems so utterly personal, but after reading 13.45, I've realized that it's actually the best kind of story to review. To begin, the story itself is well-written and obviously introspective. I loved that -- and I hate to keep repeating myself -- the story was so deep and nuanced. Your writing style is clearly evolving, even without having... read
  • A review of The Song
by Han Shot Second on 02/28/2012
I'm usually not impressed with stories told in a fairytale manner, but I quite liked the Song. First, it was incredibly visual, which is always a sign that the writer has somewhat of a command over the story they are trying to tell. Secondly, the writing is crisp, clear and solid. That's a must for a short story -- you must be concise and willing to cut details in order for... read

Yes, please report me. Interesting that you say it's all about me not being able to take criticism, the wording of your review is positive. Why would this not be the site for me? My fellow members have voted me as a reviewer of the month, now referred to as a spotlight. I've got a short story in the spotlight. All my work is featured bar the most recent one. My work was spotted on here by an editor who ended up giving me my first publishing break. I've gone on to have other works published, and I have lots of friends here. Why would this not be the site for me?

Like I said please report me. I advised you I was going to HOJ your review and I have done so. Some mods are DJ Sheridan, Debra Swann, Gamon, Al Cielo, Heylang ( I think). Cheers Mike

Frankly, I'm insulted. I downloaded the story at work, read, and then posted my review. You may disagree with my review or find it constructive, but frankly this is disrespectful and I'll take any action necessary to prove my innocence. This is NOT how you treat fellow writers. Enough said.

If you've read the work why did you only score 67% in the test? I'm not sure what you're reporting me for. Oh, I had the honesty and decency to tell you I was reporting the review to the HOJ. There are various mods you can report me to. Please go ahead. I will be intrigued to know what site rule I've broken. For the record I do treat my fellow writers with respect.

It was a very long, tedious story. How can anyone remember every single detail? Simply ridiculous. Furthermore -- and I'll end it here -- is that you have no right to insult me as a reviewer. I take my position seriously and my numerous reviews of various stories can speak to this. Why would I report you? Simply put, you've accused me of being nefarious with my review, and that's simply untrue. I took the time to read the story and comment. If you didn't like the review, fine. Reporting me for a less than positive review speaks to your attitude and personality. If you can't take the criticism, then clearly is not the website for you.

I will report you for being rude, offensive and lobbing an accusation that is harmful. Either you apologize or I will take necessary action with moderators on this site. It's up to you.
