The poet's approach to video might need a little more rhyme and meter. That being said, and I've mentioned this about another one of your shorts, your narrative voice is excellent. Have you considered public radio? The distortion/warp effect was lame and amatuerish. Overall, it was an okay short.

Sorry, but I didn't like this. I'm sure you had fun making it, and that you learned a lot; however, it's impossible (for me) to watch it w/ "willing suspension of disbelief." You're better off tackling something less challenging, and doing that 100% right. You'll go much further in the long run. Excellent Production

Perhaps the most filmic short I've seen on TS. Great directing, good acting, and excellent sound. The story was decent, but not great (as were the other elements). Very nice though. Really glad that the collab worked out for you two. Excellent all around. You have my recommend. Peace.

But lots of QT encoding problems....I think. For some reason both the low-res and high-res version don't play back smoothly. I completely downloaded the entire file, I'm using the newest QT7 player, and I'm on a fast computer w/ broadband. Not sure what's up with that. Now, back to the film. Good work, good acting, and great photography. Nice B&W contrast from DV. Peace.

Your powerful orator skills may be better applied in a dramatic context. Let's see....perhaps, an angry evangelical??? You get the idea. If, however, you still want to pursue comedy, I'm just not sure who the target audience really is for this stuff. Maybe I just don't get out enough :) Peace.

Suicide is pointless; was this film pointless too? I'm just not getting it, dude. That being said, the contrast of the B&W was nice and there were some interesting shots. The music got a little repetitive. Not sure what all the interlace flicker is all about. Wasn't this shot on 8mm??? What's up with that? "Pollution finally got to them?" ugh! very weak ending.... I was kind of expecting that the squirrel would be "interrupted" when trying to cross the street for more nuts...that's kind of where you were taking us by inserting the quiet street/intersection so many times. Too bad. Keep up the good fight!!! :)

Poetic Shadows

Interesting photography. Good use of light and shadows. You've made maximum use of your so-so MiniDV system; which is far better than those of us who make bad use of a higher-end camera. Know what I mean? Anyway, poetry reading was good...decent vox and the mic wasn't bad. Nice artistic piece. Good luck.

But...lose the PIPs!!! They made the piece seem cheesy. That's too bad because this was a very nice short film...full of great photography, good acting, beautiful locations. The story however....hmmm....a bit weak and vague, IMO. BTW, I'm always accused of the same thing. Overall, I liked it...it's easy to play Monday morning quarterback....keep up the good work.

great shots, good acting, good editing, good music, and decent story. nice to see someone shooting on the long end of the zoom, for shallow depth of field, in a minidv film. i liked the window reflection shot and the blurred restaurant lights, in the background; those were my favorite shots. well executed all around. you have my recommendation.
