Second, some mature lighting that creates a mood. It need not be expensive or complicated. For a couple hundred dollars you can get some cheap softbox type lights on ebay. It'll be worth every penny.
For your feature, I'd suggest you spend some time trying to figure out those two things. It will give your films a more polished look and feel.read
This film was wonderful. From the opening shot through to the end, the pacing was fantastic, the actors were well cast and directed, and the sound was amazing.
If I had to pick on an area it would be the color grading. It seemed the choice of tonality did not belong in that setting. The desert has more warm tones from the sand. Otherwise, I'm upset that I don't know what happens next! Very well done.read
This is a nicely crafted story!
From the look of it, the absolute most was made from limited means. The camera work and shot selection was great. The pacing was spot on. The direction was such that the actors carried the ridiculous premise through to the very funny end.

This film has many elements of great storytelling. The use of POV shots, especially stands out as effective in both moving time forward and adding tension.
That being said, the production value was very low. The artifacts in the version I watched was very distracting. Also, I didn't notice any attempt to control the lighting or coloring to affect the mood of the story...This film has many elements of great storytelling. The ending was a little bit a of a letdown. Perhaps build some extra suspense by drawing time out. Make us wonder what is going on until the very last second.
This one caught me off guard.
At first I was dismissive based on the perceived production value. However, it was only a minute before I was lost in the story of this woman. The pace allowed me time to think and react to what I was seeing. The music encouraged that. And that was the power of this piece.
Nicely done.
This film had a good lead-in to the conversation. I would have liked a little bit longer. I'm not sure it was made clear who was texting whom. Draw it out a bit.
Some of the sound was a bit weak and noisy. Sound is second in importance only to story. Learn how to capture clean sound and you'll be on your way.

The conversation didn't give me enough information to be intrigued. This was a great opportunity to let loose the suspense that you build to this point. In something this short, let it ride.
This was a great effort. Put more thought into preproduction, learn the techniques of good sound and go after it again!read
This is a great short.
The cinematography is well done. I noticed a few little things, but the mood was very well executed. It started simply with a nice build to abstraction. Loved the up the stairs shot. The girl coming out of the pool was awesomely done in cinematography, acting and direction.

The story was good. Personally, I would have liked to see a bit more on the set-up. Let the suspense build a bit more before seeing "her".
The editing was pretty tight.
Two things that bothered me a bit were the music and the change from sepia to black and white. The music was a long drone of the same bass-y feel. It could have a bit more of a build. The sepia change from inside to outside was distracting. If we never saw out a window during the interior shots it would not be so bad, I think.
Regardless, this was a great, well executed short.read
I liked this film a lot. Here are my thoughts from the top.
I like the idea of the story. From a writing standpoint, their needs to be a better set-up as to why she attacks them. Being called a few names is not likely to set someone off. The audience hears more, but the character doesn't. Makes for a disconnect.

From a pre-production standpoint, spend a little more time on tightening up the specifics of the locations, etc. Make sure you get what you want before you shoot. Locations can't be fixed in post!
From a cinematography standpoint, it was pretty good. There are a few shots that I think are missing, and a few that I would have either not shot or cut. A little color enhancement on the interior shots would help with the mood already established.
The editing was a little loose, but overall, set a nice melancholy tone to the film after the assault. Pre-assault is nicely done.
I feel you are on the right track. Keep at it. Can't wait to see more of what you have to show!read
So, this is an internal dialogue at best. As a story, however, it does not meet the criteria. There is no plot, no conflict, no location. Take the time to add another character who needs to be there. Maybe he has a criminal and is debating whether to kill him or turn him in. The machine would kill him. He starts it, it malfunctions when he tries to stop it. He saves...So, this is an internal dialogue at best. As a story, however, it does not meet the criteria. There is no plot, no conflict, no location. The good:
Loved the opening sequence! The car chase and the beating were well executed in cinematography, editing and acting.
The sound design was well done. The foley and dialogue were all clean, well placed and natural sounding.
Kudos for using a child!

The bad:
From a story standpoint it was a great idea. After the director yells "CUT", the story gets week. I understand the idea of separating the on-set character from the home life, but the transition was a bit jarring. Maybe a wide scene showing him on-set after the "CUT" to differentiate the two. Some kind of dialogue like "Hey, listen, we are not going to need you for the next three weeks." from the Director/AD. It took me a minute to realize he was a struggling actor when he got home to his kid.
The quality of the video was very low. Can you re-render the video at a higher resolution?
Basically, a great attempt. With a little more attention to the writing/pre-production, this would be a great short. read
