It's tough for me to review this objectively since I have a strong bias against overly "happy" tales. It's well written, but does come off as cliche and generic. Not to be harsh, but it's a cookie-cutter tale that I've heard many times before. Case in point: "Be brave Comanche, and follow your heart. Never give up, and you heart will take you where you want to go. No matter... read

WOOF! That's not a "short" story in my book. That aside, I was confused by the frequent mention of "Floxa-Pan". It's mentioned often enough to be significant, but I don't get why. Maybe upon a second read I will. Definitely a fucked up story that reminded me of "The Machinist" in the sense that it's difficult to know what's real and what is being hallucinated. Really liked the way you start off with the narrator being cast into hell... then we flash back and explore what it is that brought him to damnation. Many thanks for the review. I'm also a huge Carver fan, I guess the influence shows. Very encouraging. Thanks.

ComicsGn ~ In my opinion, you either need to make a point of who it is, or a point of who it isn't. Otherwise, for me at least, it slips right by, which is tragic because it's the point of the whole story. The bit of philosophy that you included in your explanation to me makes perfect sense, but in the story I don't think it was said quite clearly enough. In a world where the Impersonal, plus Time, plus Chance seems to dictate so much of what happens to so many, then I think your intended ending is effective, but it needs, I think, to be unveiled a bit less cryptically. Thanks again for the chance to read it, I think it's potentially quite powerful. Tom
