  • A review of GRACIE'S GHOST
    by Michael Keller on 05/13/2012
Gracie's ghost is a quick, breezy read with clear action lines and engaging visuals. My main suggestions are to start the haunting sooner and to raise the stakes so it seems like Jenny's life is really in danger from the start. Even if the ghost doesn't actually want to harm her, the audience needs to believe she is really in danger, in order to keep them at the edge of their... read
  • A review of MANIA
    by Michael Keller on 05/12/2012
Mania is an exciting, fast-paced ride, with engaging visuals and a suspenseful plot. I'm a little concerned by the number of monologs. In cinema it's generally preferable to use them sparingly and have more back and forth dialog, because that creates more tension and interplay than you get with long-winded speeches. Here are my running notes: -Don’t bold scene headings,... read
  • A review of School Nurse

Hi Steph Jones! I see you are branching out a little, with a largely land-based story. As usual, you managed to render a vivid world with a likable protagonist, colorful supporting characters and breezy dialog. I think the pacing and structure with this sort of story is a little tricky. If it was a case of deliberate corruption, rather than a mere oversight, it would be... read

Thanks for reviewing my script "Mania". yes, you got me - Margo was originally written as a man. I really liked that character but the whole bisexual male angle did not seem to appeal to most people so I rewrote it with a woman. Obviously, I need to do a better clean up on this draft before I start sending it out.

    Hey Micheal,

Thank you for taking on another one of my screenplays! I laughed when you mentioned it was land based as I wrote it with exactly that in mind, afraid I was a one trick pony with my boat stories. Interesting idea to not resolve her issues but allow the tension to build. Curious whether you found the story itself plausible?
Also, you obviously didn't grow up in Alabama or you'd know about the topless car wash...they are the tits :)

Ha! I really don't think you'd have anything to worry about; your screenplays' scores say you're a pretty accomplished writer. I doubt I'd be giving you 1s and 2s...

All the same, I'll respect your wishes. Thanks for your review of REX TANNER. Glad you had fun with it.
