  I found End Over End to be extremely enjoyable. There were a few points where the football terminology was either slightly incorrect or overly technical, but for the most part that was done very well and did not detract from the story. The characters seemed real and well developed. At points there were jokes or lines that didn't seem like the characters would say them, but... I found End Over End to be extremely enjoyable.   Reviewing this in the UK, the only real exposure to American Football has been through American films. If it were possible to class these as a genre, a very predictable pattern of character and plot would be seen. Although End over End contains many familiar cliches, the writing is strong enough to keep the most cyncical viewer interested. What raises this above the rest of... Although End over End contains many familiar cliches, the writing is strong enough to keep the most cyncical viewer interested. What raises this above the rest of its type is a) the strong characters: ie: the comic turn of Dozer and Mudcat and the mystique of Jeff (and his family, b) a vaguely mystical quality of the Michael / Jeff connection. c) very strong dialogue.Although potentially painful, the revealation that Bolen is Jeff's father is beautifully handled.Initially I struggled to connect with Kevins depth as a character and I wondered how relevant the relationship between his Mom and Gilbert could be. However, I began to care for Kevin at this stage.Although the third act is hardly unique, it does involve the viewer at all times. perhaps Michael's father could have been drawn deeper though. Maybe it's due to my UK perspective, that I see the target audience as being predominantly teenage.Overall pleasantly surprised by the lack of expected cliche and the strength of character. read

  A strong beginning to script, which read well but I thought that in order for the flashback of Michaels Crash(page 29) to have a greater effect and impact on the reader/viewer, Kevin shouldn't describe so much of what he saw at the scene of the crash. The use of the tv talkshows linking with the previous scene in the script i found to be original and an interesting way to convey... The use of the tv talkshows linking with the previous scene in the script i found to be original and an interesting way to convey Kevin's thought process whilst of course being relevant to your modern audience.I especially like the relationship between Dozer and Mudcat which was well written, and humorous. Would however, ask whether Dozer really needs to hook up with Lacie (page 114) his cheerleader girlfriend, what with Goose also meeting someone at the fire(page 116) the scene becomes a little to sugary especially after Kevin and Mudcat have formed relationships with Katie and Julie respectively. Whilst reading the last scenes of the script i was reminded slightly of 'Varsity Blues' especially the 'call to arms' by Goose(page 101-102) in the changing room after his father had walked out. But with the outcome of the match favouring Amador, a Hollywood conventional ending was turned on its head and a truly heartfelt message portraying 'true friendship' was cemented in my psyche. read

  "End Over End" is a great coming-of-age drama with a surprisingly large amount of twists and turns keeping us guessing at the next move this writer takes. In the beginiing, there are multiple plots that appear very random and irregular, until they are all woven at the very last. Except for some B-plot story development, I thought the characters were well designed and it really,...   After all Hollywood films it's very difficult to write something new and fresh about eternal victory of strength of mind and usual American. That such film really will be successful, it needs a good working of director and actors. But it is necessary to say that in this case a basis is quite good - the screenplay is written very clearly and does not contain revolutionary ideas,... But it is necessary to say that in this case a basis is quite good - the screenplay is written very clearly and does not contain revolutionary ideas, therefore film could appears even tomorrow. I think, that some receptions as flashes, look standardly and it's possible to remove them or do it some different, but the author has his mind about it and maybe he's right. In general, good reading - I have spent whole night. read

  A great concept--uses a good dramatic device (football) to approach a difficult subject (suicide). Technically in good form, still a few spelling mistakes that really stand out. *Most* of the exposition feels natural enough, but still obvious that I pick it out as *exposition* The humor doesn't always come across on paper--if it was wound more consistently into the characters,...   A likeable screenplay, well written with good dialogue, with occasional darker elements. The story fleetingly threatened to subvert the ideal of burger guzzling American gridiron Nazis and their vapid cheerleader squeezes. It could even have turned into a ghost story. It did not.The story explores the pressures of the American success culture, nearly condemns but finally accepts... A likeable screenplay, well written with good dialogue, with occasional darker elements. The story fleetingly threatened to subvert the ideal of burger guzzling American gridiron Nazis and their vapid cheerleader squeezes. It could even have turned into a ghost story. It did not.The story explores the pressures of the American success culture, nearly condemns but finally accepts and glorifies it. The heroes achieve some measure of victory in their lives and the screenplay celebrates that most un-American of creatures, the plucky loser. They realise the course of their lives doesn’t turn on the basis of a missed kick or fumbled ball. Yet, in the end they conform, playing ball and dating cheerleaders. Perhaps the compromise we must all make, lost in a huge mechanism we are powerless to influence.I could see this filmed. It is a competent and perhaps ultimately formulaic story. Many similar stories have been told, many shall be in future. This is the natureof Hollywood – to produce entertainment which does not finally threaten the sensibilities of its audience.   This writer is immensely talented. It has real teenagers dealing with rough things, and theyre treated with respect. Thats this scripts heart. It loves its characters and can do almost anything because of that. What would be cheesy elsewhere works here. Spec. the appearance of Michaels dad. That has no right to work and may need to be worked in a bit cleaner (him on the sidelines... This writer is immensely talented. Dialogue is laugh out loud. The urinating on the grave strikes me as too hard to accept the way you intend it. Cut the flashbacks to Jeff's behavior during the talk show scene. Wholly unnecessary. Only football note: Slant five would be a pass, no? Clean up the reasons for hiding Bolen/Jeff's relationship. It feels like a lot of work to keep it a secret. It may be cleaner if the audience finds it out when Kevin does, at dinner. You could get away with that. The ending of the big game is the right choice, but maybe pay more attention to Kevins feelings about it. I felt there were things unseen. Kevin/Gloria in the print shop can be shorter. She repeats herself some there. One typo, pg 101, "breaks" should be "brakes". Email for more if you like. read

  As I read this screenplay I became enthralled in it. I too have witnessed friends kill themselves in front of me and I just have to say you definitely got the jist of emotions running through Kevin. I was very pleased how the story flowed. This is a magnificent screenplay and you are a very talented writer. There were a few mistypes in the screenplay but very few which editing... As I read this screenplay I became enthralled in it.   This is a likeable tale of teenage angst and parental pressure. I enjoyed it dispite being as far from an American Football fan as you can get. The humour was classic teen movie stuff and story was one of true friendship. I liked Kevin and really felt for what he was going through and was glad that you didn't go for the cheesey Cowboys win the day ending. Mudcat and Dozer were... Mudcat and Dozer were good catalysts for humour against the darker side of Jeff's road to potential suicide. I'm sure many a young sportsman/woman can relate to trying to live upto other peoples expectations and the pressures involved with that I did however think the reconciliation between father and son (Bolen and Jeff) at the end could have had more substance. Maybe if Bolen returned to pick Jeff up after the game and expressed his respect and love for his son infront of his team mates would have made it seem like more of a repentance on his part. Anyway enjoyable and would certainly entertain teenagers. read
