  "Fenzwick" is an intelligent and amusing script that insersts various types of comedy rather flawlessly into the story. I was able to relate to the main character rather easily and I thought that the relationship between Fenzwick and Becky was very well done. The dialogue came off as realistic most of the time and there were only a few grammatical/formatting errors that I... I was able to relate to the main character rather easily and I thought that the relationship between Fenzwick and Becky was very well done. The dialogue came off as realistic most of the time and there were only a few grammatical/formatting errors that I could find in the script. The story itself seemed to be well-structured and moved along at a fairly fast pace. My only criticism is that the humor itself seemed cartoonish and cheesy in a lot of parts. The style of comedy applied in a lot of the jokes didn't really work for me, but I'm sure that anyone that enjoys that type of humor would love this script. Good luck to the authors with their future endeavors. read

  I like this script a lot, it has a definite wacky appeal, but it reads more like a fun TV or cable movie than a feature film. Nice to see that the Marx Brothers haven't been forgotten, but relying to some degree on a familiarity with their work is, in the year 2005, perhaps a tad optimistic. (Fenzwikian, even.) Structurally the script is mostly sound, except for a few places... I like this script a lot, it has a definite wacky appeal, but it reads more like a fun TV or cable movie than a feature film. Nice to see that the Marx Brothers haven't been forgotten, but relying to some degree on a familiarity with their work is, in the year 2005, perhaps a tad optimistic. (Fenzwikian, even.) Structurally the script is mostly sound, except for a few places where events follow a little too rapidly after one another, instead of giving the audience time to digest and/or anticipate. The characters are mostly a lot of fun, albeit entirely one-dimensional, and the situations are mostly clever and well-handled. (The various dialogues regarding Fenzwick's trombone are hilarious.) I guess if I had to suggest improvement, I'd say that some of the comedy and some of the dialogue need honing--given the inspiration behind this sciprt, a groaner now and then is to be expected and embraced, but on occasion the dialogue rings very written and false. In a broader sense, I might suggest dropping the Marx Bros. angle and pretending all this stuff is new--after all, they don't make movies like this anymore, so who's gonna know? read

  The whimsical humor and likable characters here are appealing. What's missing for me is a robust structure for the comedic moments to emerge from naturally, so they feel less coincidental. For example, the 6 mo. bet and 2 days before Paul's VP naming felt arbitrary. Is there a story reason for these deadlines? The company's being in trouble comes out of the blue, and thus undercuts... The company's being in trouble comes out of the blue, and thus undercuts the final stakes. Can this be set up throughout? The trombone/instrument joke got a bit tired. Maybe this is the final straw in a series of escalating misunderstandings. Marcia read like a plot device, forced to act out of character: she's likable, so I didn't understand why she wants to lock Fenzwik up for good and why she doesn't want him to fall in love. Murdock's reappearance is too convenient. Maybe he can show up in the background at various points (as janitor or mailroom guy, say), so we recognize him and believe that he's been keeping an eye on things. The CG scene at the end is funny but remote, taking us out of the action. Is there a way to rewrite it as a live skit, where our heroes provoke Paul onstage, like the Marx Bros. and Margaret Dumont? Loved the handerchiefs/bra on F's first day of work. The retro humor here is a standout. read

  It was a good enough story but I just wasn't that drawn to the characters. I didn't feel the emotional content with the main character. For specifics: pg 13- use slang "Piece-a-cake" also on pg.13:Pause...Zoom into her eyes when Marcia says "You go back to"-add a heightened violin strum. "DUN-DUN" (think of Cloris Leachman) then have her say as she tilts her head back "THE... It was a good enough story but I just wasn't that drawn to the characters.   Very Cute

  Let me start off by saying this is not my type of movie. While I like puns, slap stick is not my cup of tea. That said being objective I think your sp would do well with the right audience. Fenzwik is well developed and quite likable. Almost everyone can relate to dealing with a boss (Paul) who steals credit for his employees’ accomplishments. You might want to make some... You might want to make some of Fenzwik’s co-workers a little quirkier. Also you might want to introduce Murdock as the janitor earlier. That way we can share Becky’s surprise.   Fenzwik has the potential to be a good script. I was not very interested in the story; however, I did like the character of FENZWIK. I will be objective even though this was not my sort of screenplay. I felt the story just did not move along. Much of the written ACTION actually slowed the story down. All the characters seem to have the same dialogue, the same voice and the... Fenzwik has the potential to be a good script. I was not very interested in the story; however, I did like the character of FENZWIK. I will be objective even though this was not my sort of screenplay. I felt the story just did not move along. Much of the written ACTION actually slowed the story down. All the characters seem to have the same dialogue, the same voice and the same intellect. Also, the writer introduced characters that simply do not enhance or even move the story along. I did not believe the main character, Fenzwik, belonged in an Asylum…at all. Even though this is a lite comedy I would like to have seen more carefully crafted and real characters. There was some funny dialogue.“ FENZWIK: Did you know that my padded cell mate was Abraham Lincoln? Every Thursday he’d free us.” I believe that the writer needs to be honest and go back and overhaul the entire script and story structure. It’s easy to be lazy and simply go for visual gags and funny one-liners…I believe there is more to this writer, if only he/she would put in the work that this screenplay deserves. Don’t just settle for mediocrity. Be better. read

  I LOVE the Marx Brothers! What a hell of a lot of fun! They certainly don't make them like this anymore....and they ought to. This is infectious madcap fun; the sort of material that eventually just mows over any resistance with its sheer volume of rapid-fire gags, puns and visuals, until we raise our hands in surrender...and laughter. The vast majority of this material... I LOVE the Marx Brothers! What a hell of a lot of fun! They certainly don't make them like this anymore....and they ought to. This is infectious madcap fun; the sort of material that eventually just mows over any resistance with its sheer volume of rapid-fire gags, puns and visuals, until we raise our hands in surrender...and laughter. The vast majority of this material works wonderfully, and is highlighted by a handful of genuine laugh-out-loud moments. The writers obvious made the right choice by not taking anything seriously---at any point---throughout this piece, and THIS reviewer appreciates that a great deal. ISSUES: Not much, really, except the nagging thought that this material cries out for a brave and lunacy-oriented director along the lines of a Zucker Bros., etc to do it justice---a delicate sense of comic timing---and the most talented improvisational actors available. If not done exactly right, this stuff will fall on its face. The story is cookie-cutter predictable, but so what?? Fenzwik's genius MUST be convincing for the plot to work. His puppy-dog affection for Becky is delightful. Hooray for Captain Spaulding! Vive la Fenzwik! Best wishes to you, and heartfelt thanks for a smile when I needed one... read

  This was one funny script that made you laugh as you read the story. The story read easy and fast, you didn’t miss a thing. The Characters all good, I felt Becky to be a great character. Bellard, Fenzwik, and Marcia were also great characters. Their dialogue was excellent, when they spoke; we heard everything, loud and clear. We didn’t miss a thing. I felt this story... This was one funny script that made you laugh as you read the story. The story read easy and fast, you didn’t miss a thing. The Characters all good, I felt Becky to be a great character. Bellard, Fenzwik, and Marcia were also great characters. Their dialogue was excellent, when they spoke; we heard everything, loud and clear. We didn’t miss a thing. I felt this story to be a bit different, then other comedies I have seen. You’ve done a great job on your format. The story was told well, you written it well, and you explain the story as well as can be expected. I have to say, one great job done on this story. I wish you the best of luck. read

  The over all story is pretty good. I like the characters. The main characters are well developed. The supporting characters could have been developed a little better. They all seemed to be pretty much the same normal people. I feel that some of them needed to have a quirkier side to them, kind of like the movie Office Space where you watch it and go, "I work with that guy,... The over all story is pretty good. I feel that some of them needed to have a quirkier side to them, kind of like the movie Office Space where you watch it and go, "I work with that guy, yup, and that guy too." It has that but they are the non-interesting people I work with (these are just the supporting characters). As for the story I think it needs more hints. Paul doesn't seem like that bad of a person until about half way through, people don't seem to like him but it is not shown why, then half way through he just becomes a bastard, if that's the way you want it fine but at least hint at it through Pauls actions not the coworkers reactions. Also hints about Murdock could have helped he just appears at the end. And one more thing, the problems seemed to be solved a little easy. When ever Becky was mad at Fenzwic, it was cleared up within a page or two. Josie's problem with Fenzwic it last longer but is cleared up pretty much the second time they interact with eachother after the event. I hope this doesn't sound like a bad review. I liked it. read

  This was a very interesting film...expecially since I work in an office where stuff like this may happen. I really like the sexual inuendos and it was played really well. I felt I didn't get the full feel for the movie and by Becky was the way she was. I also felt there needed to be at least another small storyline of somekind. It seemed the Fen was in ever scene. Maybe that was the purpose. Also, at the end, I would think that Fen would fight harder with his sister to not go back to Pleasant Acres...cause he doesn't seem crazy to me near the end. Why would I voluntarily go even if I had made a bet? All in all, this was a very interesting screen-play and a definate comedy, especially for us office workers. Job Well Done. read
