  Some research was done for this script but could have been more thorough. Structure needs some work. Lots of very short scenes which indicates a lack of confidence in building scenes to a satisfying climax. Many one dimensional characters. Does the author really know Ludwig? A less attentive writer may have sensationalised the lead character. Critiscism withstanding, I enjoyed reading this piece. read

  Pretty much, I think this is a great first draft, but I think you need to have more conflict. Movies that are historical in nature need to be longer than 88 pages. If this is worked on, I can see it being another The Madness of King George. I believe that you have too many montages about his life. There are really no smooth transitions. I kept expecting to hear a voice over like that of a documentary. I think you need to develop your characters a bit more. Some of them just appear and disappear with no explanation. Dialouge wasn't historically accurate. I would suggest doing some research on how they talked back then. Overall, it is a great start and could be developed into an intriguing story. read

  This is a fairly interesting story. One that would interest me if it were more definitive. Why are we being told this story? What makes it interesting? What are the stakes to the Main character, Ludwig? n marriage? In being declared incompetent to rule? Needs mjuch more scene development. The charcters need to develop their relatioinships. escpecially that of Ludwig... This is a fairly interesting story. One that would interest me if it were more definitive. Is this because he was declared so or because in the end he actually is mad. as is the reason for the ending murder. A worthy story that coulod be interesting wih more decisions. read

  This story is difficult to grasp. A confused king seems to discover his homosexualty at a very early age, and writer dwells ad nauseum on the point but it drives the story to no end. There's war and national debt, but no real scandal, no real drama to set us off on some quest. Writer may wish to revisit the protagonist's external goal -- give us something to follow or root...   It's a good work. I don't understand because that genre of this script no more filmed. It's not a excellent film therefore lacks to much criative and a greater visualization of the script. But the film has good argument and seems interesting very. Perhaps either necessary one has touched of modernity, action and adventure.

  When dealing with matters such as you have chosen, it very seldom flies when trying to cover the whole life of someone. Even those that have made it to the screen are most often tedious. Pick a moment in time that you think is most important and go with it. A year or two maybe at tops. What is your key selling point? If it is going to be his being gay and the conflicts... When dealing with matters such as you have chosen, it very seldom flies when trying to cover the whole life of someone. Even those that have made it to the screen are most often tedious. If it is going to be his being gay and the conflicts it caused, then keep to that. The scenes moved too fast. There was really no feeling to the piece. If he was so tormented by it to come to the final outcome, then deal with that directly. Show his conflict and his pain more. Show the opposition to him and let them also point out why they feel they must do what they do. In conflicts, both sides feel they are doing the "right thing". Play with that. Make it a tragic love story of someone caught in a world (or time) he doesn't belong in. The story in itself has potential, but cut down on the montages and tighten it up. Give us a reason to feel he is right and everyone else is wrong. Unless you believe he was just plain mad. read

  This is completely well done, the structure of it has been well looked into, but the sexual innuendos were not there. If you have a character that is gay or questions their sexuality, this needs to be further explored. I felt there was no resolution with this. Possibly something more could happen between Wagner and Ludwig, or just a development for that aspect of it. This is... But development is essential if not to be compared with Amadeus and the like. There also needs to be a mystery with the ending, whether this leaves the audience guessing about his madness or the possible murder of him. read

  I was lucky enough to tour the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles and witness their splendor. I drove the beautiful Bavarian countryside along the majestic Alps. I've seen photos of the Nymphenburg castle and gardens. All absolutely beautiful settings for a film. On to the script: Good character development using actions and little dialogue. All the framework seems there... I was lucky enough to tour the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles and witness their splendor. I drove the beautiful Bavarian countryside along the majestic Alps. I've seen photos of the Nymphenburg castle and gardens. All absolutely beautiful settings for a film. On to the script: Good character development using actions and little dialogue. All the framework seems there. So by adding some details, you could easily catapult this tale to stardom. Consider using the socio-political-economic details of the Prussian war to bolster Ludwig's woes and give weight to his difficulty abandoning his friend, Wagner. Perhaps a voice over as Ludwig makes entries into his diary would give more insight into his darker feelings and his slow plunder into madness. And at the end, consider Ludwig stating what it was that he always wanted to touch... "Such beauty. I just wanted to touch it." Then rather than suicide, think about building conspirators around him. Find someway to leave the manner of his death a mystery. Didn't Ludwig despise his father and build the Neuschwanstein to outdo him? Might be some worthy conflict there too.   I like the idea of the story although it feels like the script puts a more negative spin on the lead's sexual preference than the other character's do. This fact should have more relevance or at least a more immediate consequence.I also felt the dialogue was not written for the time period the story is set within. The dialogue seemed much to modern. Of course, it should be in German and I understand some liberties need to be taken but the characters and dialogue do not feel historical enough.My biggest complaint would be from pacing. No scene is given enough time to really develop and as a result I did not feel a connection with any characters. This speed works sometimes but fails in most cases when dealing with an historical drama such as this. read

  I liked this script a lot. The dialogue was intelligent, the characters were compelling and intriguing, the plot was engaging. The script is also a probing analysis of madness--and the king is successfully made into a sympathetic character who has flaws and knows it but can't overcome them. He's a tragic figure in the grand style. I would very much like to see this film... I liked this script a lot.
