  New World Order has plenty of action going for it. Gavin Night is a compelling character with his psychokinetic power. There are explosions and chases that are well written. There was no love interest but the screenplay moves like a bullet train. All of the support characters are well drawn. I was satisfied with the ending.

  In New World Order the dialogue was generally good. I think the hero, Gavin, would be a stronger character if his "conservative bohemian" values were shown or spoken more. His awakening and subsequent caring would be more dramatic. Along with the idea above, the characterization of the hero's nemesis, Agent Mascis, would have been stronger if he and his values were developed... Along with the idea above, the characterization of the hero's nemesis, Agent Mascis, would have been stronger if he and his values were developed just a little more. Define in action and dialogue the Corporate New World Order and Agent Mascis' connection to it. Who (and/or what?) will benefit from the New World Order and how? Why? Answering these questions would give more depth and character to the villains, making them more realisitc and threatening. The concept and story are average because they have been done so many times before and need some unique twists to challenge me. I gave the structure a rating of good because it flowed generally well. To make the script a better read, repair the basic grammar, spelling, and other problems that at times made the script a little difficult to read. The best action, which I found to be entertaining at a "good" rating level, were the strangeness of Gavin surviving the train collision and his first meeting with his future mentor, Alders. read

  This is the kind of movie you wait all summer to see. An expensive, futuristic, epic battle movie that is set to have numerous sequals and a good marketing opportunity. However, the script starts very slow and it is a while before anything of real importance happens. On top of that the formatting is not correct and it badly needs to be proofread. The characters are strong and at the end I was happy that I stayed with it. It definately needs to be tightened. I'm not sure why the Lava Lounge scene is there. I suppose it is because it shows Gavin to be mortal, but this could be done within the scenes around it. The alien element doesn't make any sense yet, but it is obvious that this will be better explained in the sequal. The burning question though, is will people like the story enough so far to sit through and await a sequal? I think you've got a real good idea here in that it is a complete story in itself, and it is a good opener for a trillogy. I can't wait to read the second part. I have about a page of notes on this script for proofreading errors which I would like to send to you, or you can email me to discuss the script further. Thanks for letting me read it. read

  Screenplay format needs to be followedScene headings cannot be isolated on the bottom of a page. Needs editing especially for grammar errors. Dialogues on pp. 33 on are too long, tight and expository, TELL too much instead of showing. Some good tension in the action scenes but it's old hat. No groundwork was laid for this, no explanation given---just a bolt out of nowhere. True he has the Hummer and weapons ready for Gavin, but his character should have been better developed. Though this has been done before manytimes, maybe, with some revision, this could make fair entertainment for the young crowd. read

  Interesting, but I've seen it done before and better. Criticism: The story seemed way too short, probably because of the ad-copy style of description, which tends to take up more space than regular description. That style is perfectly appropriate for action scenes, but not the whole screenplay. Dialogue was not spaced properly. Highlander meets Independence Day meets Matrix... Interesting, but I've seen it done before and better. Highlander meets Independence Day meets Matrix meets Unbreakable meets Octopussy meets V (remember that show?). Where are the original elements? I think planned multi-part screenplays are destined never to sell as specs. Gav's conversion from confused dude to Neo was way too fast and convenient. Pandering to post-9/11 sentiment was ill-advised at best and offensive at worst. On the plus side the characters were individuals, even if the dialogue was sometimes too 'Last Action Hero.' A very good effort, and more polished than many others, but derivative and unentertaining. Swipe less, originate more. read
