A professor with issues of anti-Semitism falls in love with a Jewish woman - a romance doomed to fail.
HOW IT RATES
Sean Donnely is an Irish emigre to America during 1894. Everything has always come easily for Sean and this trend continues in America. He quickly moves forward in his quest for the American Dream, but then tragedy strikes. Sean has always been able to control his life and environment, and was always one of those people that just seem to have luck in everything they do. Not knowing how to deal with the worst adversity life can throw at a person, Sean surges forward in his quest for what he sees as the American Dream, achieving material success, but nothing else. Sean finally is changed by the death of his father and a return to his homeland. His connection with the land and the simplistic love of life that was the embodiment of his father help Sean emerge from his emotional cocoon and begin to live life once again.
