  This might be the best script I've read on TS so far. When I watch a historical movie or read a historical novel I want to get sucked into that time machine and feel like I'm transported to the time period of the story. When I watch a historical movie or read a historical novel I want to get sucked into that time machine and feel like I'm transported to the time period of the story. The Bottle of Death does a fantastic job in capturing a feel for the era it depicts. The comradery of the squardren, the naive excitement that war is a grand adventure not to be missed, and the ultimate bitter revelation that war is indeed hell are expertly depicted. Superbly crafted flying scenes. I could feel the wind in my face and the nausea bubbling in my belly. The rebel rich kid rebelling from his father might a tad cliche, but hell, it works. Rinnon reading his father's letters made my eues moist. Someone has got to make this baby. I'm itching to fire up my old PC flight sim Flying Corps and shoot down Boche observation balloons. Outstanding job! read

  A very interesting screenplay. It's well written with a lot of characters. I liked the scenes with Rimmon behind enemy lines the best. The fight scenes in the air will be better to watch on the screen than to read about. If I was hard pressed to say what I didn't like about it, would be not seeing Boelcke's death.   I read this in one sitting: it is definitely a page-turner.I liked the way you used your research and I was gripped by the action sequences. The only thing that disappointed me was the title: Bottle of Death sounds like a 1950s drive-in B Movie aimed at teenagers against the excess of alcohol. It doesn't convey the excitement of the script.

  This story has its best scene when the lead character is in his most life and death air battle while we hear a letter from his estranged father. While I'd quibble that this letter needs more depth and clarity, the way the scene is put together would benefit the whole film; the emotion of the father-son relationship informing the pitched battle is the way the whole script can... While I'd quibble that this letter needs more depth and clarity, the way the scene is put together would benefit the whole film; the emotion of the father-son relationship informing the pitched battle is the way the whole script can be made more powerful. All the flying battle scenes are told in a blow-by-blow manner which seems like a shooting script rather than a reading script; each of those could be tightened to a more overview description of the battle with essential details and shots included. This would help the opening which takes a long time to get to the main storyline but is basically one battle. I see a tale of war heroes and one hero driven by his estrangement from his father, so the characters can be deepened and the action made clearer. And if Sophie's presence can be clarified and strengthened, her appearance at the end will mean what it is essential that it means. read

  Loeffelholz has a good thing going here. This is a solid script, well written with well-rounded characters and clearly defined scenes.The progression of the plot is good and character development is bang on, but I found the ending a little flat after a great climax and resolution ~ as if the story has something more to say than the action does. Rimmons character transformation is complete. The motivation to go home is there but the impetus to send him just isnt clear.Camera direction is left to a minimum yet there are well-defined scenes and aerial combat sequences that differ in tone, scope, and build in complexity throughout the script to the climax.The escape from behind enemy lines is well orchestrated and gives the script additional depth and character; bringing it down to earth (pardon the pun) was a brilliant idea. It brings a grittiness and reality to the image of the flamboyant flyboys of WWI.Overall I enjoyed the read. The imagery and visual sense of the script shines through. The characters are engaging and the situation tense. The plot progresses evenly and climaxes dynamically ~ its just the ending thats a bit of a let down. read

  It's just as well that I should read this script. The Lafayette Escadrille is part of military aviation history, and me being in the Air Force, this should be required reading (heck, it's even part of our promotion testing). Anyway, this script was far more interesting then the few paragraphs available in our promotion study guides. This script is a perpetual top tenner and... This script is a perpetual top tenner and has oodles of reviews, so I'll try to point out anything that could be improved: The descriptions, while wonderfully written, could be cut down a tad. It's more of a personal preference, but too much narrative can turn off some readers. You know the drill on "CUT TO's"... I loved the end scene in the German Bar, but I thought it would be more fitting for Jonathan to do his final battle in an airplane (yeah, I know that's how he got there, but...). I like the "Bottle of Death". I always wondered why this SP was called that (or the chief's head for your picture). Rimmon had an excellent arc with his desire for adventure and his conflict with his father (and nice way to tie in Germany sinking the Lusitania(?) ). Damn fine script that will make a damn fine movie if someone will take a chance on it. Good Job. read

  The rich details and great structure gives this script an authenticity, and the action sequences are so elaborate and intense they were a blast to read. This is a double edge swors, because the major downfall of this script is the wall-to-wall action. Give us a moment to breathe. And, there were honest points that could have been elaborated on (visually) to deliver the already... At times the backstory and exposition seemed a touch contrived and forced, and the dialog was too on the nose. The theme of the "father search" was a welcomed touch, one I'd expand on. Very strong writing skills. Great job! read

  You were right to say in your production notes that this is a subject and type of film that isn't made and hasn't been for quite a while. I'm glad you stepped up with your skill as a talented writer and wrote one that SHOULD be made and hopefully soon. The scenes of the dogfights and aerial battles are so beautifully done that you could just picture flying high above World... The scenes of the dogfights and aerial battles are so beautifully done that you could just picture flying high above World War One Europe. Rimmon is a great protagonist and a hero that will light up the screen with the proper actor. I'm assuming Mr. Bloom is your choice to play this role and I can definitely see him doing it, and hopefully he would jump at a chance to play such a charismatic character. When a script has you at the edge of your seat, reading the script with detail, but with speed to find out what happens next...you know its a winner. Congrats on writing the "slam-bang action adventure" that most EVERYONE would pay to see! read

  This is one action packed script. It grabs you and holds on tight right through to the very end. The action is very well laid out and written.It kind of felt a bit Top Gunish in parts, which is both a good and bad thing. But that movie was just action and no drama. Thank god you manage to have the drama also. The reader and viewer get to know the guys well enough to care about... This is one action packed script. Which is very important in an action movie. Otherwise we suffer the ten little Indian, why give a god damn. I would have liked to wrap up a little quicker but it flows well, no really drawn out scenes. The three acts are well defined. One of two structure and spelling errors (around the middle), which gave me the impression this got worked on a little less. Enjoyed it thanks. read

  Cool screenplay. They don't seem to make enough War movies these days and yours would make an excellent addition. The hard works shines through and I can see you have spent a lot of time researching the facts. Actions is very well written. Characters are well above the norm, some of the best I have read on this. I did feel the dialogue needed some work and it sounds too much... Cool screenplay. They don't seem to make enough War movies these days and yours would make an excellent addition. I did feel the dialogue needed some work and it sounds too much as people today would talk in some sections. But only a minor complaint. Great story and hope I see Mr. Bloom in it one day. read
