  This screenplay needs work in two areas. The first is its structure, which is at times confusing and rambling. Simplify. I was frequently confused about who's story was being told. Define your main character(s) more strongly and right away. The second area that needs work is the craft. As mentioned in a previous review, the dialogue is weak and on the nose. As mentioned in a previous review, the dialogue is weak and on the nose. Show us, don't tell us. I felt like the little dialogue that wasn't exposition wasn't neccessary or interesting. So show us what we need to know with images and use subtext to make your dialogue harmonize. A fine first attempt, but I would reccomend reading LOTS of screenplays, especially for films you like, and writing several more. read

  I feel like the story here is strong and worth telling but the writing and dialog - the craft of the script needs work. The dialog is very on the nose and very overwritten at times. I think this writer should really work on making the READER work to figure more things out. When the dialog is so on the nose, it makes the story feel unreal, and dull, at times. Again, I want to... Again, I want to say I think the story here is worth telling and I would recommend a good, strong re-write where the writer tries to be as subtle as possible. The description is also overwritten at times, but this is more an annoyance than a true problem with the final movie. Again, the story here is worth telling and the characters are good - and I would be happy to read a revision down the road. I hope this helps. read

  Good, believable dialogue but the story is very confusing if you're not familiar with Irish history which limits its audience appeal. It was a struggle trying to keep all the characters straight along with their present and past dilemmas and, quite frankly, I got bored with it. Nevertheless, the writer definitely has talent and I would encourage him to keep writing, but...   THREE POINTING BACK is well enough written and could easily translate into a film but the territory seems well covered. Reading it gives a sense of the pain and the struggle of young people trying to find themselves in a hostile homeland. I believe there are some nice roles for young actors in this script. This is solid but not deep or new enough to be really exciting.

  The dialogue is what moves this screenplay. It gets a little involved in itself meaning there's some inside baseball only locals would understand but it moves and that's good. Characters are believable and well structured. Though the beginning started out action-packed and shocking, the scenes that led us to the meat dragged a bit but still very readable.

  Unfortuntely being an english major, the first thing that I caught was that the script jumps from being a first person to third person narrative and then back to a first person. This is confusing for the reader. Simple things like mixing the use of the word was and were or used and using. If it is being told from a third person, then the use of flashbacks or some technique... Unfortuntely being an english major, the first thing that I caught was that the script jumps from being a first person to third person narrative and then back to a first person. If it is being told from a third person, then the use of flashbacks or some technique to convey the reader into the mind of the story teller would be effective. I've never been to Ireland but the I think the writer captured the locations well so that I could picture the lay of the land in my mind and could visualize the raw beauty of the region. Now onto the big problem I had. The story wasn't interesting. It's been told before and reminded me of Far and Away. I would work on the strength of the story as a whole before adding the characters and the ending needs some work as well. Unless you are planning a sequel. read

  My knowledge of this region, and the political struggles that haunt it, is admittedly limited. To that end I can only address the script in terms of dramatics. While I felt the dialogue was consistantly credible, and the landscape of the story believably drawn, I was never really hooked by the story, which seemed to just jump from event to event in a strictly linear manner... My knowledge of this region, and the political struggles that haunt it, is admittedly limited. To that end I can only address the script in terms of dramatics. While I felt the dialogue was consistantly credible, and the landscape of the story believably drawn, I was never really hooked by the story, which seemed to just jump from event to event in a strictly linear manner. It would have benefited from the "set-up/reversal" structure employed by many such films. As it stands now, the story is just a series of "strong reaction moments" by the lead character. It would help us root for him more if we saw him making smart choices, or strong actions, that moved the story forward. The story here is definately an interesting one, worth telling. But I believe turning up the volume on the drama, and providing more twists and suspence for the reader/eventual viewer would go a long way to enhance the narrative. read

  After reading Three Pointing Back, I feel as though I have to read it again. After hours of struggling with the view of the characters in my mind I was finally able to find who I believe they were. The story is very intresting however the characters and scenes are not developed. The story jumps around and I feel it would be easier to follow if The characters and scenes had... The story is very intresting however the characters and scenes are not developed. The story jumps around and I feel it would be easier to follow if The characters and scenes had more desrciption. You have to bring us into there heads, lives, and environments. This is the only serious flaw I found in the script. I would take some serious time to sit down and develope the characters more. Give us an insight on why they act the way they do. read

  It is funny that I was assigned this screenplay which is set in Belfast, the city I grew up in. I found the language to be coarse, familiar and a bit unnecessary. I believe that someone who has never lived in Belfast would have difficulty understanding some of the exchanges between the characters. At the start, a lot of characters are introduced quickly and I had a little trouble... It is funny that I was assigned this screenplay which is set in Belfast, the city I grew up in. I believe that someone who has never lived in Belfast would have difficulty understanding some of the exchanges between the characters. At the start, a lot of characters are introduced quickly and I had a little trouble becoming familiar with who was doing what. The familiar theme of the paramilitary underworld was passably interpreted and the ongoing love story was believable but the overall violence inherent in the location took away from their struggle. read

  I have recently been much more interested in the conflicts and history of Ireland. There have been some great things that came out of it, and although it does get a fair amount of attention, I think its still fair to write more about it.The Romeo and Juliet story, as some would say, has been beaten to death, but personally I feel that there are only so many stories on Earth... There have been some great things that came out of it, and although it does get a fair amount of attention, I think its still fair to write more about it.The Romeo and Juliet story, as some would say, has been beaten to death, but personally I feel that there are only so many stories on Earth anyway, there's no problem rewriting the same story over and over as long as its recreation is well done. With that said, I have to say this story was right at par level. I felt that, even though there was a defined main character, he could have been the center of attention more than he was. As many others have commented on, your writing is extremely good. You definitely have a flare for dialog! read
