  Other than poor lighting on a couple of shot locations, I think that this Doc was well done. I understand that this piece was undertaken as a short assignment for a film class. Too bad that the issues were not developed further. The topic is very meaty and a more complete examination could make for a very powerful documentary.

  This is a great documentary - I liked it a lot. Very well made and it kept me interested the whole way through. The topic of the film was made clear right from the start and the film stayed focused on that topic and did not steer away from the subject matter in any way. Very well made.   I think it is great that the filmmakers decided to make this film because it helps to get the word out about the violent crimes taking place in Luton and every little bit helps towards solving the problem. I would definitly like to see more films like this being made. Awesome film guys, you did a great job! read

  I enjoyed this film, it's nice to get the victim's point of view, particularly when he/she is typically considered part of the haves. I enjoyed hearing the victims' stories, the narrator did a pretty good job, though his voice was not particularly attractive. The camera was well handled, audio captured professionally and the editor did a good job. All in all a decent effort... I enjoyed this film, it's nice to get the victim's point of view, particularly when he/she is typically considered part of the haves. All in all a decent effort though to me it seemed too much like a segment from some news show than a work of art that stands alone, transcending it's moment with real insight into human nature. I wish you'd asked how they felt during and after the crime, how it had changed them, instead of just relating a police report. Good luck. read

  What a great documentary! The scope of the film was simple and concise, and you made excellent use of the six minutes you used for the film. The topic is obviously timely and of great importance to this community. At first I questioned your inclusion of the producer and his story in the documentary. I generally think the more potent documentaries are those which maintain... What a great documentary! The scope of the film was simple and concise, and you made excellent use of the six minutes you used for the film. The topic is obviously timely and of great importance to this community. At first I questioned your inclusion of the producer and his story in the documentary. I generally think the more potent documentaries are those which maintain as objective a perspective as possible. But in this particular instance it seems that the true life experiences of the producer bring the issues that much closer to the audience.
  
  I feel like one of the strongest points of the doc is the quick editing. It is not so fast that you lose track of the different peoples' stories, but fast enough that the short maintains a real energetic flow. The visual effects were not overused and helped to hammer down important points of your argument. A masterful use of the medium... you made me care about Luton even though it's on the other side of the world from me, which to me says you your short doc was quite successful. Good job! read

  Format is good, nice sound and images, and definately interesting... and I'm from the states. I do have critisims though. At times it felt like a news story that I'd see on american tv, and its very frustrating. Although it was not likley not intended by the filmmakers, the doc implies or suggests that immigrants are to blame. Which for all I know might be the case but it... Although it was not likley not intended by the filmmakers, the doc implies or suggests that immigrants are to blame. Which for all I know might be the case but it is unsupported. The doc states "too many illegal immigrants" followed by "racial tension" followed by "alot of drug and alcohol abuse" followed by "drugs and knives" followed by "common working working people are subjected to this if they snitch". While these are just sound bites strung together they do form an indirect but cohesive thought/statement 'Common people of the town are subjected to crime because the drug using/alcohol abusing illegal immigrants' and that possibly a "larger police presence is the solution" Intentional or Non-Intentional this the statement that the filmmaker suggests. But no supporting evidence is offered... What percentage of convicted criminals are immigrants? OR What percentage of victims are "common people"?
  
  In the future I'd becareful and pay close attention to indirect suggestions and bias, unless of course that is the intent of the piece...
  
  Still I thought the piece was representative of a well put together documentary. read

  The audio difficulties made it impossible to glean the full intent of this piece. However, it looked like there were a lot of good elements to it that may later turn into something really engaging. I liked the pace and the camera work but it was hard to tell if the special effects you used actually worked with the dialogue. Good effort.

  Right from the start u could tell this was a film made by students as part of a course. But it was very good it was to the point and very well made and with the crime rate being high in key towns throughout the uk i was involved in a similar project in another town Torquay. and again very similar crimes etc. this was a well produced lil project that was extremly interesting...   Luton the place to be uh? Nice one, I liked your short. I don't even know Luton, and your short was done interestingly enough to raise some good damn questions. It was also quite interesting to see the people' versions of facts and events, all of them unified in just one thing: we want more police. Technically, camera work was ok but I found the zooming rather annoying. Sound... Luton the place to be uh? Nice one, I liked your short.   Your documentary was awsome! I guess I don't really think of crime outside the States in the sense that you presented it. All of your subjects were very interesting. Your camerawork was very nice. Nicely lit, good audio. Edited very nicely. One thing... I believe the voiceover needs a stronger sounding voice. Once again... very nice! Thanks for the view!

  This assignment gets a grade A+ for making a good documentary on a subject they did not love. I like this film for showing the dark side of an otherwise sleepy town. Not a compelling piece, but we get the picture by the end. The town would like a larger police presence...but then again how else would these victims respond? I feel the editing really lets the victims POV shine... This assignment gets a grade A+ for making a good documentary on a subject they did not love. It was easy to follow and actually interesting. I was hoping for a few juicier crimes...but that would be way too hollywood for this quaint England town! read
