  Almost Perfect Short Film

  It took a little while to get into the story fully, but once I was in, I was hooked. The adreneline from the characters passes through the screen and into the viewer. The hand-held camera techniques were executed phenominally and the attention to detail (for example the close-up of the bug in the headlight) added a perfect dose of realism. I don't want to spoil the plot, but... It took a little while to get into the story fully, but once I was in, I was hooked. The hand-held camera techniques were executed phenominally and the attention to detail (for example the close-up of the bug in the headlight) added a perfect dose of realism. I don't want to spoil the plot, but the use of certain props by characters is realistic, as I'm sure many women viewers would agree, and very apt for the film.
  
  My only issue with the story was some of the dialogue. Where the dialogue was needed from the character driving in the car after his wife, i felt that the execution was a little fragmented. Perhaps a voice-over would have worked better for parts of it, however some parts (the agression with the steering wheel) were perfectly suited to being spoken out loud. read

  The story is about a trusting husband who is searching the streets for his wife who is out partying. The storyline doesn't have continuity. The dialogue isn't on pace with the happenings on film. The obveously obsessively jealouse husband who is in his car patroling the streets looking for his wife. The man actually said " I trusted you Carol". That made no sense with the...   The Lighting was terrible but explained in the production notes. I am normally strong on light. The light actually fit the scenes and was mostly adequate for the purpose. The BAD moment was the ending. I couldn't see it the husband or the bad guy got Carol?
  
  Sound:bad
  The main character was slurring his heavily accented words and has an echo, very poor. The rest of the film was ok

  Well shot, well lit, well played. Great script, great twists, and best of all, great editing. I don't know what else to say except this is a very well done piece that deserves awards. Well done. High production quality, great work. This is without a doubt my favorite short so far this year. I hope it's alright that my review is short and sweet. There's just not a lot...   I loved the beginning images across the driver's face during his personal rant to his wife. This was very well acted, directed, and edited. The film was dark in places which made me have to squint and rewind a bit, though reading your ordeal filming I understand why. Great filming of driving sequences. Fabulous script, realistic dialogue, a great collision of characters... I loved the beginning images across the driver's face during his personal rant to his wife.

  Great filming of driving sequences.
  
  Fabulous script, realistic dialogue, a great collision of characters reacting in a bleak situation.
  
  Music was great highlighting suspense and fear.
  
  Great effect of the flashlight during the chase scene.

  Wow - I really like everything about CALLBACK. One of the things that stood out (from a visual standpoint) is putting the camera on the car as the husband drives the streets looking for his wife - I loved it. I read the production notes about this short and I would of never known you guys had 'mishaps' through-out the shoot due to the sleek presentation. I can see why this... Wow - I really like everything about CALLBACK.   This short was very well plotted out. The acting was superb and the overall production quality was damn professional. Definitely a short worthy of competition. I only had a few caveats. The first was the shaky camera work in the club which was cut to directly after the opening scene of the husband. Unlike the shaky camera work in the rest of the film, it took me out of the...   I only had a few caveats. The first was the shaky camera work in the club which was cut to directly after the opening scene of the husband. Unlike the shaky camera work in the rest of the film, it took me out of the story and didn't fit the feel. It was more documentary than narrative shaky. I think steady camera work would have worked better.
  The other point in the film that didn't work for me was when the rapist was creepily talking to debbie in the back of the car and it cut from a two shot to what looked like a fish eye close up of his face for a second. I thought the actor was doing fine without the "help". The cut undercut his performance.
  I also wasn't sure how to feel about the stiletto being used to stab the husband in the side of the head. It's probably possible, but I don't FEEL like it is. It felt like a cheap horror flick trick.
  But honestly, I'm nitpicking because the film was so well made. There wasn't any major issue to critique since it was so well made, and so I can only critique the things that would take it from a very very good film to a perfect film. Well Done, guys! read

  This was well done. For all the problems that you faced while shootings this short, it turned out great. I enjoyed your actors, the lighting, the shots the editing. All around a great job. Don't change a thing. Congrats. I recommend this short, I also look forward to seeing any more of your work.

  A really scare-enticing plot with strong camera angles and good edit. Great opening shots and credits sequence. The cell phones left behind at the wrong moments definitely bacame the strong ironic point to the overall theme and missed-communication. The story unfolded really well, no wonder the husband was concerned after what he saw. Thankfully at first he did, despite how... A really scare-enticing plot with strong camera angles and good edit. Great opening shots and credits sequence. The cell phones left behind at the wrong moments definitely bacame the strong ironic point to the overall theme and missed-communication.
  The story unfolded really well, no wonder the husband was concerned after what he saw. Thankfully at first he did, despite how angry and misconstrued he took things, but to what extent would it take them as she was callling on him for help? It seemed perhaps Carol may have misconstrued things as well concerning the driver that offered them the ride. Hope so... or it only gets worse from there. Then again, it got as worse as she could imagine that ending moment.
  
  A very powerful ending, but because of the darkness,I had to rewind it to figure out exactly what happened, to see what she had done. I felt for her, scared out of her mind. The performances were really strong in this, creible even with the complaining outloud to himself.
  
  I realy thought the production notes speak volumes in destined work - all the struggles were prevailed for what was obviously meant to be shot on dv. Althogh the lighting is often too dark or a little "off" somewhat, after seeing the obstacles/loss occured, I think this team did an awesome job, and I felt it was an excellent suspense story worth the effort. read

  Callback is a paranoia laden short about woman who makes a mistake. This maddening triangle of suspense between victim and stalker turned me on my ear when we find that the stalkers become the victims. A terrible night closes in on a young woman a little too drunk to drive who gets a lift home from a club-goer. Never ride with strangers. A jealous husband who has ( understandably... Callback is a paranoia laden short about woman who makes a mistake. This maddening triangle of suspense between victim and stalker turned me on my ear when we find that the stalkers become the victims. A terrible night closes in on a young woman a little too drunk to drive who gets a lift home from a club-goer. Never ride with strangers. A jealous husband who has ( understandably so ) the wrong idea of what seems to be happening takes on a secondary stalker role as he follows the wife he believes is cheating on him. Sudden twists in the plot made it interesting to stay tuned in and watch what was going to happen to the lady. What happened at the end is something I should have seen coming, but didn't. This is definitely a 3 star effort! read

  Quite good piece of work. Nice overall production (good audio, clean image). The acting is good, in line with the project, whose only problem could be the use of too many cliche. I think the jealouse husbandi in fisrst place is a little stereotyped. He talks too much and is too angry. The story seems taken from an urban legend, Is it?
