  This piece had some funny moments for sure. The shots are varied and that is good. in a few scenes, like after he is singing, are a bit darker than they probably should have been as you cannot really see him that well. The sound needs some work as in may clips we hear that airy hum. You can take that out with a cleaner and a few ambient tracks. Good work over all. Keep at it...   I think that what really works for me in this short film is that Mr. Allen was able to blend together two very different cinemas into one. The character of "The Man" very "Buster Keaton/Charles Chaplin" like, the silent film era if you will (very much over the top) and momens like the sofa swallowing the Man... very contemporary Michel Gondry's "eternal sunshine of the spotless... I think that what really works for me in this short film is that Mr. Allen was able to blend together two very different cinemas into one. His hyper behavior, her nonchalant attitude and the really short and witty dialogues really creates a very uncomfortable mood and leaves the viewers wondering how he or she is going to get out of this situation/date!!By the way i'm lactose intolerant....the milk glass scene really made me cringe! Nice job!! read

  This film made me chuckle a few times. There are some very witty lines and scenes with the guy. The woman basically plays it straight and is pretty passive. I did think it kind of faltered at the end and seemed a little flat. But the guy definitely seemed like a very interesting character.

  This didn't really do anything for me I'm afraid, there was some nice ideas along the way but it never really came together in my eyes. Aprt from anything it just wasn't funny when it was trying to be, it was a little too mannered, and stilted. Technical it was reasonbly welll put together but I just don't think it worked quite as well as it might.

  The short film THE DATE is a quick take on the realities of what appears to be a first (and only) date where nothing good happens. Although the concept is not new, I thought the direction was suitable for the piece, and the B&W look was refreshing, even though the scene where he seems to be floating in windy limbo was a little dark. The acting for the most part was pretty good,... The short film THE DATE is a quick take on the realities of what appears to be a first (and only) date where nothing good happens. Although the concept is not new, I thought the direction was suitable for the piece, and the B&W look was refreshing, even though the scene where he seems to be floating in windy limbo was a little dark. The acting for the most part was pretty good, the camera work interesting, and the music helped to carry the day. All in all this is a decent little film. Best of luck! read

  Unfortunately this film is in the territory of 'my kind of film' - guys going on dates and completely f'ing up in a Woody Allen/Chaplin kind of way, so I am likely to be very critical!. Note; wasn't that the tune of 'My Way'? Copyright...?. Physical humour is very hard; very hard. To direction needs to be spot on, the acting just right, I don't think you really got there...   Physical humour is very hard; very hard. To direction needs to be spot on, the acting just right, I don't think you really got there here. When he falls over at the start, it wasn't very realistic. The actress was very static, very unreal, it didn't lend a very comedy feel.
  
  The middle part of the film was very slow - i.e. when the classical music was playing, it was just completely boring, there was nothing here for the audience.
  
  The weird artsy moments that happened through out, they didn't seem particularly suitable or relevant to what we were seeing on the date - and the close ups of the L.P. playing, and the changing of the camera angles, they didn't seem to have any relation to the story, there was no need.
  
  What you show here is a decent grasp of the important things in filmmaking - direction & editing, but unfortunately I don't feel you utilised them very well. Also, if that was the tune to 'My Way', I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be on triggerstreet. read

  I enjoyed this film, I especially felt alot of sympathy for the female actor (as intended, I'm sure), good job there, but I think that making the guy a bit insensitive at the beginning didn't give a balance so one could like them both, for me, it was like I had to choose. The story had a couple puzzling moments and I feel there was more to this that maybe you could flesh out...
