  I liked this short. It's a funny take on the zombie genré. I still feel though that the acting could have been better overall. Except for the clerk which I think is pretty good. The camerawork is fluent and the film is definetly deftly put together. I like the hunour and think you held it nicely back, could easily gone over the top. Good work.

  Great story, make-up and fun performances. Good thing the clerk didn’t wonder if this guy wasn’t just some weirdo in makeup. Well, when the robber walked in to the answer to cash or credit, he identifies. Great story unfolds afterward, as it was perfect humor that the former girlfriend was pregnant. The kiss – eww. LOVED when he put on the deodorant. Also loved the Michael... Great story, make-up and fun performances. Good thing the clerk didn’t wonder if this guy wasn’t just some weirdo in makeup. LOVED when he put on the deodorant. Also loved the Michael Jackson Thriller tribute. Did 7-11 allow their store to be endorsed in this flick? Zombies still have needs, convenient or not. Fun camera shots and good edit, with a great soundtrack (even if the level was low in this compression). At least for the story this was all caught on videotape, so the clerk could explain. If I had believed what just happened, I would have left before that robber woke up! read

  I really like this film. It's very wacky and strange; with some very good comedic moments, even if we did cut to the baffled clerks look a few too many times. Very funny; I love these sort of films where a bunch of wacky coincidences happen together; people turning up and whatnot, the key is being able to keep it believable, which is often what Director's forget to do, it's...   You had an excellent handle on the directing here; everything made sense, strangely - and the film was just the right length.
  
  Also, perfect lighting and sound, which helps. good job.

  Not your normal Zombie flick, but it was very good. The story was thought out enough that when you thought something was going to happen, something else did. The film did lag a bit before the "robber" came in, but not much. There was a lot of humor with the Zombie walking around the store. The clerk could have been used a bit more to interact with the Zombie, but other... Not your normal Zombie flick, but it was very good.   The concept / story of Dead Shift is very strong--as many good twists as most feature films. Most of the debits are technical: The dim lighting, rather than creating an atmosphere, just made it difficult to see important nuances, like the zombie's facial expressions. Compression was a little uneven, with distracting artifacts. Most important, for me at least, was the puzzling...   Compression was a little uneven, with distracting artifacts.
  Most important, for me at least, was the puzzling use of widescreen. I kept waiting for some composition to justify the ratio, but it never happened, except for the external shot of the store.
  Still an enjoyable twist on the zombie / romantic comedy formulas. read

  Yeah, this wasn't half bad. It seems like typical ozzy humor to me. I quite enjoyed the music on the attack scene. As I said not half bad. It did seem to drag on a bit though for a comedy. Probably could of had a few shots cut so it moved along a bit quicker. Well done though.

  I think your next project should be a full-scale Broadway-style Zombie musical with singing, dancing, the whole bit! I noticed a bit of Encino Man in there and a tip of the hat to Thriller (how could you not pay homage). When the girl kissed that undead thing, the first thought that occurred to me was "his breath must be awful." On a technical level, the image pixelated... I think your next project should be a full-scale Broadway-style Zombie musical with singing, dancing, the whole bit!   The idea was clever and funny. It made me laugh although it did come across like a student film to me. Maybe it was the use of one location, or the amateurish quality of the acting. Dialogue could have been more clever. I liked the composition and many of the shots. Visually the story was told very well. Black and white was a good idea. An imaginative twist on the old...   This is a great short film. For some reason I remember watching it a while back cause the avatar looked scary. But watching it again was just as enjoyable. The mechanics of good filmmaking are all here in this one. Good directing, cinematography, production value, acting. My only complaints would be: One, it seemed like it could have used a couple of close up shot pick... This is a great short film.   My only complaints would be: One, it seemed like it could have used a couple of close up shot pick ups. For example, I would have liked to have seen him eating his old friends throat out. I know it was probably a matter of not having the proper special effects, but you could have just done a close up of the zombie munching down on the guys throat and then pulling away with blood all over his face. Also, he hands something to the clerk at the end. I'm guessing it was a wallet, but I would have liked to have seen a close up to be sure. Did he take the wallet from his friend? If so, a pick up of that would have been nice. Also, there were a couple of moments where I thought you could have really used a little more comedy. Like when the clerk is lighting the cigarette for him. I just wanted something funnier to happen there. Same with the end. Buying gum is kind of funny, but buying condoms would have been funnier I guess she's already pregnant though, so that wouldn't have really worked. But it did need one final punch line at the end.

  Clever concept that could have been made much funnier and sillier. Good start, but always try to push the boundaries. Also, needed to have the former friend and girl friend enter much sooner, shorten the whole first half. The three of them are the main characters, the gas station guy is just an unfortunate witness.
