  Story: Interestig idea but poorly delivered. First of all you need to clearly establish that the father is dead (which is my understanding, though I may be wrong), otherwise people will think that he is living on the rooftop. Editing: Nothing especially fancy. There were quite a number of axis jumps in the shed scene. You may want to cut 90% of the kid leaving for karate class... Story:

  Editing:
  Nothing especially fancy. There were quite a number of axis jumps in the shed scene. You may want to cut 90% of the kid leaving for karate class and just cut to the car exiting the frame. Everything else (the kid getting in the car, her brother going around the car, starting it up, pulling out of the driveway) is extraneous.
  
  Mis-en-scene:
  Good use of a household, I assume, this was shot on location. I didn't see any of the actors' facial expressions, but based on what I heard the acting was mediocre.
  
  Cinematography:
  I didn't see anything special. Overall it was a pretty neutral look, well framed shots, ok lighting. I have to add though that due to the very heavy compression I couldn't see much of the film. Should have probably used more light on the interior for the few shots where there is an exterior and an interior in the frame at the same time.
  
  Sound:
  Poor. The dialogue is clear for the closeups, but you should have ADR-ed the longshots. You have no foley effects. The noise between shots doesn't match.
  On the other hand when there is music it is a good choice. read

  This seemed like a nice movie...It was extremely hard to watch because of what I guess to be the compression settings. I would like to watch this movie again in full resolution. I think two minutes of opening credits on a 10 minute film is a little long. You got get the audience to the story sooner. Maybe this isn't that big of a problem, but I couldn't really tell what... Maybe this isn't that big of a problem, but I couldn't really tell what was happening during the opening credits do to the image quality. I also found the music from the opening credits to be distracting once the dialogue started, I was wishing it had faded out as the story began.
  
  Nice idea for a short film. It could have been edited down to about 5 minutes, it would have moved faster and had better pacing. read

  I don't know if it was my computer or if the short film is poor quality. I couldn't work out what the letter said towards the end. It seemed quite long and quiet in parts especially when the uncle had just come to pick the daughter up? I also thought the sound quality was poor. It was a good idea for a short film but poorly executed. And the music did not go with the film... I don't know if it was my computer or if the short film is poor quality.   I really like this film.. Very touching. Kept me wanting more. I really felt for the mother in the end. Love the ending! Awesome!!! This is my second time viewing it. It didn't explain how the father died though, but it still was a very heartbreaking and touching story. I was waiting for a response to come from the deceased father..lol

  There was nothing i hated about it. It was something to be proud of. I was viewing your movie on the Triggerstreet video window and it was too small of a screen to really see what the letter said. So I never got the twist. I liked -- loved how little of dialogue you used. It tells me you have done this before. I can see a lot of talent here. What i would suggest.....

  What i would suggest...
  
  1. Don't open with your main character looking so sad and looking at pictures for so long. We understand what happened a lot sooner then that scene ran for. If you use that many shoots of pictures they should tell us something. But they don't they tell us the character missing the person in the pictures. The scene is twice as long as it needs to.
  
  2. Give her more motivation to go outside to talk to her daughter. Since this is where the story begins, it can't just start where the character is not doing anything. Have her daughter giggle loudly as or something as she sends up the balloon and letter. Have her rush out to see what shes giggling about. I'm not explaining this well but its up to you, for me I just feel like the character was too reactive. There wasn't anything she needed to do that this story got in the way of.
  
  3. close up on the letter, in movies when the action beats relies on what a character reads they show the letter and then fast cut - tight close up of one or two words that a character reacts to. Right now, it's too much too read.
  
  4. The music was weird and at times distracting.
  
  5. White car backed up really long. Why did u hold on the car backing up. And why was it so slow? The character needs to do something. The character can't wait there that long staring at the car. She needs to, need something to do. Right now, she's just kind of waiting. And if the point is that she's not doing anything. 'Doing nothing' still has to be interesting. She can't just stare, sit, clean, and cry. Give her funny weird things to do. Like stand on one foot. Like have her watch tv and reach for a remote as a show is going to commercial but when the announcer says 'don't touch that remote we'll be right back.' Have her stop reaching and give us a look of 'OK'. Obviously this might not work but I like to give examples.
  
  But it is a nice movie and good clean subject matter so congrats on that. read

  The facts of the matter are this: this short could have use better filming equipment and perhaps a more experienced crew. This would have certainly made it a better view and I wouldn't have had to suffer through all the eye squinting to figure out what the daughter had written to her dad or what he had wrote back.   But it's the message of the film that counts most and the director clearly conveyed the message that love is a bridge between those living and those who have passed on.
  
  Besides poor video quality, too much time was spent on the scene where the brother took his sister to karate practice. And I wondered why he, as her brother, would use the doorbell as oppose to knocking and just walking in. This would have brought out the closeness of the family even more.
  
  I thought the music for this film was good--no--better than good, conveying a mood that was appropriate for this type of film. Perhaps it could be shot again with a little more dialog and a better camara. read

  TWISTED IT WASN’T

  Great little story! Had me guessing twists throughout. Although I felt it too long at the beginning without dialogue, I let it go to placing the credits and giving us some insight to the characters. When the brother came to pick up the child I thought it might be the father‘s ghost answering the letter. (A twist) You spent so much time with the brother leaving I was expecting...   You spent so much time with the brother leaving I was expecting something to happen, the car hit exiting the driveway. (Another twist)
  
  Then the mother stares out the window drinking coffee, I expected the husband’s ghost to pop up and scare the, you know what out of me, (Another twist) but that did not happen.
  
  When she put the rake away, I waited for his ghost to scare us, (Another twist) that did not happen.
  
  Image was too small on TS screen to read the note, but I got the gist that it was from the father. The foreboding music had me wondering throughout that the mother had done something bad and I was happy that I was wrong and it had a nice ending. I liked your twist too.
