  I couldn't really find anything unique or interesting in this topic as presented. While I appreciated your attempt to show the protagonist in action, most of your info was in the narrative. Yeah, the military hasn't always treated homosexuals well, but talking about saving lives while showing an unrealistic portrayal of one soldier doing so didn't move me. The overall production...   The overall production value wasn't horrible, but maybe a scene with soldier visiting the injured fellow in the hospital or receiving medal would of had more impact. read

  I thought this film was ok. The monologue was the best part. It was written well. However, the visuals were pretty bland. I think a lot of creative filming could have really improved this and still have the same no-budget props, etc. Also, the crappy cgi was really annoying. Even having someone throw dirt into frame from below would have given me some appreciation for... I thought this film was ok. The monologue was the best part. It was written well.

  I think it is a good piece but I feel being more creative in finding ways to create more impressive visuals would greatly improve your future films. read

  I think with this type of content I believe you should have focused on the story rather than the action. In other words I believe you should have showed more scenes that dealt with the discharge and how it affected the main character rather than showing the action because you simply did not have the budget to give the scenes a real ambiance even though I think you did a sufficient... I think with this type of content I believe you should have focused on the story rather than the action. In other words I believe you should have showed more scenes that dealt with the discharge and how it affected the main character rather than showing the action because you simply did not have the budget to give the scenes a real ambiance even though I think you did a sufficient job despite having no budget. You could have cut down the war scenes so that you were only left with the ones that looked real and played a key role in delivering your message. The rest could have been the discharge scenes and perhaps you could have added the end result of what the main character resorts to as a result of the discharge. Perhaps a suicide or a shooting in a public place. The reason for this is to give your story conflict, obstacles for your character to try to overcome or fail.
  
  I believe the idea has potential but I think it lacks the elements that I mention above and therefore it's not as engaging as it should be. read

  I really enjoyed this film even though it looked like it was very low budget. You can see from the camera angles that the filmmakers were trying to hide where they truly were and the effects of bombs going off was a little cheesy. With that said, it really didn't matter cause the narrator brings us through a very good story, the kind that makes you Shae your head not at the... I really enjoyed this film even though it looked like it was very low budget.   Great editing and shot selection (the wide angle shot of the corridor was excellent). Framing was good throughout. Wasn’t overly sold on the locations all of the time, it looked a mite suburban. Great issue to address – the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell thing. More films/screenplays like this are needed to highlight the hypocrisy. Overall I’d liked this to have been extended – maybe...   The intense music runs parallel with the story along with the fast paced editing in a beautiful dance. The music is a wonderful character exhibiting powerful emotions but not in a forceful manner. The camera work, the angles in particular add excitement to the story. The voiceover works well because without it the story does not easily reveal itself through the visuals....   Overall, I applaude the message. I'm not gay but they are being so unfairly discriminated against, that is one reason why my 1st short film is about them.Unfortunately, I fear most people will think this is either some guy working thru his grudge,or a propaganda piece.Naive and sad, but true. Film-wise, the explosions were a little beginnerish, as well as the dirt flying up... Overall, I applaude the message.

  Film-wise, the explosions were a little beginnerish, as well as the dirt flying up when he was dragging his buddy to safety.And what war were we in and noone got a helmet?The poor black guy didn't even get a hat, and we see what happened to him.Lets have some more hats please.The action could have been better planned out to show a progression, as it seemed edited weird or something.
  But I would just as well see this short than the ones they show currently at the theatre where they want to get you to enlist by showing how "cool" it is to be in the Army. Give me a friggin break!Show this one.Double dare ya! read

  Very low budget piece, tried to focus on the story because even if the production values are low, a story can still resonate if done right. I feel it's taken from a real encounter of experience, seems to have a strong first hand feel. It wants to give us a view into the psyche of what soldiers experience after the war. Could have been longer, seemed like an aburpt ending... Very low budget piece, tried to focus on the story because even if the production values are low, a story can still resonate if done right.   Its a 'message' movie, a bit roughly done. Music and pace was good, but the narration was too hurried/fast. Good effort to highlight the cause, but not very effective in evoking the response. The special effects were crude, and virtually no color correction done, so it looks a bit flat.

  No real pun intended here, I felt that watching this was about a man making change in his world against his desire to serve. Got the point, but HAD TO WATCH IT TWICE and listen for the words underneath the overbearing though pretty decent music for its task. It is way too loud and you lost me on the first note. Hence, I went back and replayed the story. It is a little bit... No real pun intended here, I felt that watching this was about a man making change in his world against his desire to serve. Hence, I went back and replayed the story. It is a little bit thin, but it is seems this may be real footage you are using. Sure, there is shooting into the bushes, but it doesn't come off a dangerous situation. Pulling the buddy to safety, or what it seems to be, is about the only thing that was concrete in the photography. I didn't read your notes, and I am sure there will be explanations in it. Shouldn't need them at all.
  
  There is ability in this submission, just thin story, and the envelope image wasn't needed. Dropping a letter just received, or just feeding a faint image of the letter over an image might do it.
  
  From the credits, to the quality of the very loud music, it all looks like you have materials and talent at your disposal. Why let them be buried in the brass? read
