  Unreal but cute.
  A review of From The Stoop

  I found this short unbelievabe, but overall a cute short. The idea that a beautiful woman would be attracted to such a nerd, was a stretch of the imagination. In the beginning I thought the boy was trying to kill himself with all those pills he had laid out. Later on I figured that he was taking anti axiety drugs. The use of music was good, it was like watching a modern silent... I found this short unbelievabe, but overall a cute short. The use of music was good, it was like watching a modern silent film. The acting was very good, and the direction was crisp and to the point. Other then the unbelieviablity of the woman's choice, the film was very sweet, and was compelling to watch. read

  film is super!But could include speech, to show that the boy overcome his fear. The operation can continue after the walk and meet with boyfriend neighbor. would have been interesting times to see how the boy would react. Perhaps it had to rock at home. To show her his world. Perhaps they would kiss. then the boy really was to overcome fear and to show that the onlookers.

  From the Stoop isn't perfect by any means, but it's effective with it's simple purpose of making a young guy chained by fear to his home to get up the motivation to forget about his fears for the care of a beautiful young girl. The lead actor does a good job in this short, he has good facial expressions and sells the fear of this character to an extent. What I wasn't a fan...   What I wasn't a fan of was the no dialogue in the whole short, as I feel that having at least a little of it would have made this piece of workmore effective, especially since the talent does speak in the film and we don't hear the lines, which never comes off well. ADR would benenit this short if possible.
  
  Overall, it's a decent little short. Good job.

  I enjoyed From The Stoop well enough. It was strongly produced and possessed a sufficient enough storyline to keep the viewer's attention from start to finish, adhering to rules that make a short strong. Such as keeping locations, cast etc. to a minimum. If there was to be a criticism, it would be that perhaps From The Stoop was a little longer than it needed to be. I also... I enjoyed From The Stoop well enough. It was strongly produced and possessed a sufficient enough storyline to keep the viewer's attention from start to finish, adhering to rules that make a short strong. Such as keeping locations, cast etc. to a minimum. If there was to be a criticism, it would be that perhaps From The Stoop was a little longer than it needed to be. I also figured that the protagonist suffered from some confidence issues/Agoraphobia, which was overcome by his burgeoning friendship with the girl next door? Although was this clear enough for everyone to notice? Was it there to notice? Was I reading too much into things? read

  The story was sweet, but in my opinion I had a hard time believing your story. Perhaps you were going for more comical interest, but what I always look at first is why should we be interested in this character? Do I want to know more of what's going to happen? I lose interest because of how overplayed the boy is and would a hot girl really continue to pass notes to a boy who... The story was sweet, but in my opinion I had a hard time believing your story. Perhaps you were going for more comical interest, but what I always look at first is why should we be interested in this character? Do I want to know more of what's going to happen? I lose interest because of how overplayed the boy is and would a hot girl really continue to pass notes to a boy who wierdly watches her? There is a chance, but we need to see something stronger to help us understand her interest in him and him with her. The camera movements were pretty standard and constantly moving when unnecessary sometimes. The music was an interesting contrast with how the story is percieved. I'm thinking you wanted the instrumental to represent the boy, but sometimes it was playing when you saw her and it felt very inconsistent. I do think it's funny how he just says hi in the letter and your close-ups on her and him were a nice touch, but overall you have more of a comical piece here then a drama. It appears as though you weren't sure what you were playing on either, a serious tone or comical. Once you get your tone then you can really play on that in shots and character development. I think it was a good achievement, but just needs to be built up more and thought about. Don't just put music in to have music or put the camera in whatever place. Think about why you are putting those things in or what they represent. All the best! read
