  This film was excellent. From the moment it began I was intrigued and knew that for the next few minutes it had my full attention. The character of Ivory is one that I find to be well developed as well as incredibly portrayed. (The acting throughout the film was impeccable) There is a story being told here and my only complaint is that it ends so abruptly, however it works... This film was excellent. From the moment it began I was intrigued and knew that for the next few minutes it had my full attention. The character of Ivory is one that I find to be well developed as well as incredibly portrayed. (The acting throughout the film was impeccable) There is a story being told here and my only complaint is that it ends so abruptly, however it works for this film and I think you have produced something quite unique and spectacular. read

  Remember every single detail of every second of your life. What kind of struggle would you experience in such a case? 'Ivory' shows us just that and it does so very effectively. The flow of the narrative works well with the main character trying to explain his condition of remember everything that ever happened to him to a pair of investigators trying to understand. His condition... Remember every single detail of every second of your life. What kind of struggle would you experience in such a case? 'Ivory' shows us just that and it does so very effectively. The flow of the narrative works well with the main character trying to explain his condition of remember everything that ever happened to him to a pair of investigators trying to understand. His condition makes his life a constant trial, never able to connect to anyone else, alienating him from loved ones and friends. The editing was excellent, flying between past scenarios and life moments. The POV shots were used to terrific effectiveness, often feeling like we are getting a glimpse of this man's life. I liked the addition of seeing the investigators in the background in these flashes, reminding us that these are still only memories. The sound quality was very good and many good uses of sound to accentuate certain moments. I enjoyed the dialogue and the actors' performances very much. I would have liked to see better video quality however and this really holds the film back from achieving what it could be. All in all, an interesting work of film indeed. read

  I liked Ivory, a connotation relating to elephants of course, who never forget. It was an interesting short, making you think exactly how complicated things would really be if you never forgot. It really gives the viewer a sense of confusion, as to how confused Sebastian would really be, to the point that he doesn't even know what's going on in his life. The only issue was... It really gives the viewer a sense of confusion, as to how confused Sebastian would really be, to the point that he doesn't even know what's going on in his life. The only issue was that there were some resolution problems on the short, it was very pixellated, I don't whether this was a conversion issue or what, but it somewhat hindered my enjoyment. Other than this sideline problem, it was a good short. read

  Ivory is a short story about conflicted man chased by his inner demons. There is certain ambiguity, whether it is caused by the fact, the he can remember every single day since he was 6 years old, whether it is caused by his genius (he was able to count the exact number of years/months/days since he met last time a guy on the bus stop) or whether it is caused by his girlfriend... Ivory is a short story about conflicted man chased by his inner demons. There is certain ambiguity, whether it is caused by the fact, the he can remember every single day since he was 6 years old, whether it is caused by his genius (he was able to count the exact number of years/months/days since he met last time a guy on the bus stop) or whether it is caused by his girlfriend.
  
  The choice of the lead actor was superb. His portrayal of the conflicted character was so credible, that there was absolutely no problem in identifying with him and being dragged into his world and story.
  
  The short was also technically well executed. I don't know, if it was on purpose, but the lightning reminded me the "Godfather look" (lighting from above), so there are big shadows created in the eyepit and you can almost feel the demons inside him. Colors were desaturated, which I think serves its purpose. Quick edits and sound design elements were also great.
  
  I'm little bit struggling with the question, what was the main reason for the conflicts inside him, but that would be probably for the feature film version, which I'd definitely love to watch in the future!

  This is the first british film i ve reviewed. The film reminded me of Memento, about a guy trying to piece things together from memories. But I guess its the opposite because the guy in Momento doesn't remember anything. There's a definite Nolan quality to this film and it was clever, offering twists and turns. i loved the natural way it was filmed, the psychoanalysts could...   i loved the natural way it was filmed, the psychoanalysts could have been the real thing. And the father and Girlfriend were also very natural. I loved the part when she gets the cake 'is that it' then he gives ehr the gift ' i was only joking' - if that was scripted, thats comedy gold in my opinion.
  
  Sebastian was great, he had a look about him and his voice in the narration at the beginning is awesome. Its a well rounded film, and hopefully you ll be able to make a feature one day.

  Brilliant concept. Well executed. Great dramatic crescendo. Lead actor reminded me of a sullen soap star but with much more depth and bravado! Bravo! Supporting actors were all stand outs as well. Would love to this on the BBC or in a theater near me. A must "to be continued" project. Keep up the great filmmaking. A DEF contender for any serious short competition.

  The choice of actors that were cast for the film was an excellent decision made by the director. The main character in particular has away of comanding your attention. However, the story was difficult to follow. At times it was hard to figure out what was real for the character and what wasn't and it left me thinking about a particular flaw that could have been avoided. First,...   However, the story was difficult to follow. At times it was hard to figure out what was real for the character and what wasn't and it left me thinking about a particular flaw that could have been avoided. First, I believe the story deviated from its original intention which I believe was to ultimately drive the main character insane due to the fact that he remembered everything. Instead, at some point, the character started forgetting what was real and what wasn't, which in my opinion is a totally different problem psychologicaly. He began to see imgages of loved ones who weren't really there and I find the hallucinations changed the direction of the story. I would suggest sticking to the main idea which is remembering everything about the past and Perhaps, because the character remembered everything, maybe there was one thing he wished he didn't remember. Possibly something bad happened to him as a child or he did something really bad and is tortured by it throughout the story, which destroys him in the end or he overcomes it somehow. Incorporating that element would have kept the story solid all the way through. In other words, he remembers everything even something that happened to him a long time ago that was so bad it tortures him and ultimately destroys him at the end. read

  This was an interseting concept for a storyline, and although I felt lost from the get go it brought me in closer as the story progressed, which strategically, kept me hooked and watching. Well done in it's build in tension I felt I was watching a short film that maybe Christopher Nolan may had made in his early days, with the likes of Momento and Insomnia, for which I am a... Well done in it's build in tension I felt I was watching a short film that maybe Christopher Nolan may had made in his early days, with the likes of Momento and Insomnia, for which I am a fan. If a suspensful, cerebal thriller is the direction for future works from this writer, director I am sure that with the right backing and talented crew to boost up the production value it will be a movie worth watching. I enjoyed this short film and would like to see more from this indivdual. read

  What I really appreciate and admire about this film is the ambiguity of it. You don't really give the audience any background, but with the perfect amount of narration, we are able to identify or at least try to identify this character. What I saw, which could be completely wrong, was a man who was possibly inflicted with a deadly disease and is trying to recall the moments... What I really appreciate and admire about this film is the ambiguity of it. You don't really give the audience any background, but with the perfect amount of narration, we are able to identify or at least try to identify this character. What I saw, which could be completely wrong, was a man who was possibly inflicted with a deadly disease and is trying to recall the moments in his life when he was truly happy. The limited amount of words is enough for us to see that his family didn't make him happy, for he didn't have a good relationship with his father or uncle. What did make him happy was a little, seemingly insignificant toy airplane that for some reason meant the world to this individual. This character is relate-able because we all had our one special escape, whether it be a toy or whatever, that when in our presence, nothing else seemed to matter; our problems seemed to disappear. You really brought this person to life and I admire how you were able to develop so much character emotion in so little time. read

  The message I garnered from your piece is thus:
  
  Life is so full of trial, error and mistake that the ability to forget should not be taken for granted. As human's it is essential we move on and improve from our hardships if we ever want to succeed and be happy in life and you can't do that if you remember every single thing in every single detail.
  
  I thought your camera was excellent, especially when framing your actors. For example Seb was framed in a way that gave us constant sympathy. Generally I'm not a big fan of POV because it seems when someone does it, they do it a lot. However, you used effectively to maximum effect and didn't rely on it too heavily. I loved the little movement you had in your shots too, looked really pro.
  
  Your actors were fantastic for the most part, especially your lead. If these guys are unpaid amateurs then you did superb in getting the most out of them.
  
  One thing I would have done differently is focus on a specific incident in Seb's life that caused him pain and he can not forget. I know the break down of his relationship is a major thing that effects him, but what if he caught his girlfriend cheating on him for example and he can't do anything without seeing her half naked, writhing on another man, maybe even a man he knows, a man he loves. If something this strong happened then his actions throughout the film could have been a lot more extreme and then heightened the emotion and possible conflict.
  
  That being said, I enjoyed watching your short and I'd like to thank you for putting it up.
