  Good Beginnings. I can see some effort went into your pre-production, ie... character creation and some dialog. I felt the pacing was good although there was a few quirky hangups in the middle of your monster dialog delivery and in the last scene. This would have been a great opportunity to give us something in the vain of a comedy exchange that we as viewers could have... Good Beginnings.

This would have been a great opportunity to give us something in the vain of a comedy exchange that we as viewers could have had a chuckle with. All I could hear was a scrambled monologue with poor sound.
  
  You are the director and are there as a guide to help the the audience see what it is YOU want them to see, and take them on a journey with a cohesive, well laid out story. Your shot planning can make all the difference between telling a ok story that may or may not get the point across or to telling a great suspenseful story with that little comedy twist. Be sure to use all your cinematic shots, ie... master/medium /closeup shots etc. Use your storyboard to help you visualize and build each scene.
  
  I liked your sound track, well cued as well. Get your shotgun Mic into the conversation, your actors dialog was at times far away and difficult for me to hear. I did see some edit cuts, showing us you do have an editor. Make use of his or her skill, put that person to work. Your editor and director make a great editing team. Use your post production time well, get that story across to us your viewer.

  Funny, entertaining short film. I really enjoyed the character portrayal of Gorgolax. The super-cheese makeup effects were dead on, as was the accent. Dialogue, story, sound and light were all good. I expecially liked the choice of black and white and lack of special effects. It made me laugh and kept me focused. Great job. This would make a great surreality-show with Gorgolax... Funny, entertaining short film. I really enjoyed the character portrayal of Gorgolax.   This movie had some good ideas, but the execution was not always up to snuff. I didn't realize, except in retrospect, what the sounds of the monster's cell phone and the voice of the person on the other end were. I didn't understand why he smashed up the light and I didn't understand what happened at the end, either. The acting the makeup, and the black and white photography... This movie had some good ideas, but the execution was not always up to snuff.   The short started off annoying but slowly started winning me over about halfway through by its goofy charm. The ended was a little abrubt and confusing. What did he mean by "Why?" The B&W photography wasn't really neccesary; I think this could have worked better in color. All in all not a bad short. Good luck.

  I have to say that I have encountered few comedy/horror films that are as original as "Jermey and Gorgolax." It's originality is far and away the films greatest strength. The dialogue was good, but to be honest, the acting was sketchy. The man in the film did not really seem to be into his part.   "Jermey and Gorgolax" is a new take on the old childhood fear of a monster in the closet, and played with it very well. read

  Initially, I was afraid to watch it because when it got to the closet scene I was scared at what would happen next. I don't like horror films. so, I forced myself to continue watchng it and not only wasn't it scary but, it was hardly a comedy. I could ot believe what I was watching.   Short starts a little slowly, but eventually grows on you a little thanks in large part to the timing and delivery of the "monster." I get that the opening was slow and deliberate and melancholy to set up the contrast with the presence of the funny-monster. The problem here is that the opening doesn't offer too much other than burning off some time while the moody (and old...   I get that the opening was slow and deliberate and melancholy to set up the contrast with the presence of the funny-monster. The problem here is that the opening doesn't offer too much other than burning off some time while the moody (and old time-y) music plays. It seems like there is an opportunity to set up something here with the human character or at least offer up something other than a man coming home.
  
  Things get going when the monster shows up (so maybe start the short closer to that scene?). At first the whole get-up is off-putting and I thought I wouldn't care for the performance of the monster. But the overall effect is kind of funny. The writing/performance/editing here work and the actor playing the monster reminded me a young Michael Rapaport style character.
  
  I didn't really care for the actor playing the human. It is harder to play the straight-man, but nothing about this actor's physical presence, voice, or performance were compelling.
  
  Also, I'm not sure this works in black and white with the film-damage effects. Ostensibly it's because this film is update of an old concept (and maybe to hide the seams in the make-up job of the monster), but I found it distracting. The old film effect doesn't look good as executed and it made things like the human character's haircut and the monster's cell phone seem anachronistic when I shouldn't really be paying attention to those things anyway. Also, there are ways to shoot "good" black and white, and the black and white here didn't take advantage of those techniques.
  
  If not for the comic presence of the "monster," this short would get lost in the shuffle, but it has value if nothing else than for a showcase for that particular performance. read

  I don't think the b/w added anything to this short. May have been better if it was in colour? Maybe you used b&w because of budget restrictions on the make-up? This for me doesn't really work on a horror level and it isn't that funny, sorry. I think the writing could have done with a bit more work.   I couldn't identify with the two characters. The script needed more work and that's what ultimately lets this one down. I didn't get the room trashing bit...
  
  That said, I thought the actors were okay and the production values were good with nice editing and shots. The sound was very good, so kudos for your PP work. If this was your first short then it is a good effort. read

  I really liked the premise that you had going. It was a lot of fun. I liked that the monster was like a normal working stiff. I found to Gorgolax to be realistically annoying. It was funny when, from the beginning he fell through the door. The music choice was very effective. The fact that he had to gather his materials together and then try to leave in his truck were a cool... I really liked the premise that you had going. It was a lot of fun.   In a way, I think I almost like the Homages to horror movies I’ve seen on Triggerstreet, than the actual ‘original’ horror movies I’ve seen here. This one started very nicely and kept its steam going throughout the film. The silliness was pretty good, sometimes the screeching, etc was a bit much, but their hearts were in the right place for this kinda thing, the script was...
