  It seemed like you knew what you were going for, an over-the-top spoofy psuedo action comedy, and to me anyhow, you were pretty successful. I thought when it started that it would be funnier than it turned out to be. The humor wasn't subversive enough. The dialog was so purposefully poorly scripted that it was hard to tell if it was decent or terrible. I understand it was... I understand it was probably meant to be stagey and unbelievable, but it didn't really do anything but feel unnatural. I would cut out the long traveling jump cut scene. It's annoying and you pretty much get the job done with title card. You could stand to cut out about a minute or so extra fat from the story as well.
  
  All in all, the director knew what he was doing. The dutch angles were well done. The sequences were crafted and designed with skill. It looked like from a directorial stand point he thought of each shot and executed it. Nothing looked like it was accident which is rare in some of the short films on this site. The script could have been funnier is my main complaint.

  This is like a Jackie Chan movie: it works because the fight scenes are so good, in fact downright impressive, despite the terrible plot and hit or miss dialogue. The trash can bit was executed well - I laughed each time, that actor annoyed me in the car ride but was strong with the physical comedy, like Kramer from Seinfeld. The fight scene that impressed me the most was... This is like a Jackie Chan movie: it works because the fight scenes are so good, in fact downright impressive, despite the terrible plot and hit or miss dialogue. The trash can bit was executed well - I laughed each time, that actor annoyed me in the car ride but was strong with the physical comedy, like Kramer from Seinfeld. The fight scene that impressed me the most was at the end (with the Blue Wave sign in the background). Just fantastic and very well edited - the sound effects were great and the music rocked here I thought. Some of the happy go lucky sounding tunes in the rest of the piece I didn't like as much. Sort of a bad movie with some really great moments, just like real Kung Fu movies. read

  Let me start by saying it's really hard to make a low budget comedy. Usually it falls into at least one of three traps: bad talent, bad jokes or bad timing. And I'm happy to say that this short skillfully dodged all three. You had very skilled talent and the jokes, while usually simple, made me laugh out loud at least once. But more than anything, I was happy to see that the... Let me start by saying it's really hard to make a low budget comedy. You had very skilled talent and the jokes, while usually simple, made me laugh out loud at least once. But more than anything, I was happy to see that the timing was spot on. There wasn't that slow wait, hoping the audience got it. A joke would come, quick pause was given and you moved on. I think what partly helped that was the mood was set very early. The good lighting, which is a gift of the summer, the music and the color all gave it a fun, goofy feel. In your notes you said that most of it sucked outside of the fights (which were well done), but I disagree. I've seen bigger budgets and longer features which were done much worse. Congrats on this outing. If I get the chance, I'll try to check out your DVD. read

  Your Prod Notes are a review in a nutshell, really. The fight scenes are good, everything else sucks (ok, so I'm paraphrasing). I'll go a little further and say that the idea has the potential to be silly fun. It's unfortunate that you couldn't come up with anything better for the Kung Fu Collectors to do besides running around and getting into long fight sequences. The...   I'll go a little further and say that the idea has the potential to be silly fun. It's unfortunate that you couldn't come up with anything better for the Kung Fu Collectors to do besides running around and getting into long fight sequences. The campiness is fine, but everything after the initial idea is uninspired.
  
  Your characters need a decent plot more than anything. It doesn't have to be a "serious" plot, but it has to be better than "let's flee from the bad guys, let's hide from the bad guys, let's fight the bad guys". And for god's sake, NEVER, EVER end ANY movie with a pool party. That brings you down from campy to utter SNL-at-its-worst cheesiness. It stops being funny.
  
  For what it's worth though, I liked the idea enough that I kept trying to like the movie. Next time team-up with a screenwriter and work an actual story and gags around those cool fight scenes. Good luck! read

  Lots of fun watching this short. The balance between the comedy and fighting was good but I especially liked the music. I think it added a lot to the piece. I actually didn't think the acting was that bad - because none of you guys were trying to hard to be that good - the result for me, was that everyone gave a comic natural performance. Keep' em coming.

  who works at a water park. fun location. good use of the space you had. Sure the acting was campy and the story was silly....but hey, isn't that what you were going for? the fight scenes were good (made better by the use of sound effects) and many of your camera shots were reminicent of other kung fu movies. for a a fun summer project you guys did a good job. want to see the... who works at a water park. fun location. good use of the space you had.   i thought the whole film was excellent but i really dont believe your production notes because i believe that you have made movies before as the production seems to be of a good standard. i really enjoyed everything about the film and only have minor gripes with the sound but very well done

  This was a fun little film. As a fan of the martial arts genre, I found your choreography to be solid, your plot pleasantly silly, and your sound design/music choices to be outstanding. I loved how all the minions were referred to as "killers". I liked the multicultural badguys - the black guy was pretty badass. THe fight scenes were good. The only bad part was the "white... The only bad part was the "white guy trying to be funny scenes (particularly the nipple slicing gag)" and the extended dialogue scene after they first encounter the killers. Really unnecessary stuff. There is enough comedy in the fight scenes that you don't need the white guy acting like an ass. (the diaper in the trash gag was pretty good, however). Overall very funny. Would like to see another one from you. read

  The performances are very good, humorous characters. The edits are very nice. The camerawork is pretty good. I like the music, very nice. The dialogue is hilarious. The fight scene is very funny. The audio is good. Good use of multiple locations. A nice, very enjoyable effort. Continued Success!

  Pretty funny movie! Nicely choreographed fight sequences and several funny moments provide a nice dose of entertainment. I would shave a good 3 minutes of the movie and perhaps devote the time to the hurried ending and letting the party go on with the credits on top. Not sure how you got away with using Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" but it was a nice touch at the end. Polish... Pretty funny movie!
