  From the first frame of this film, the tone was set up really nicely. The music with the girl riding in the car was very evocative and I loved the expression on her face. The shot walking down the hallway in the hospital was awesome. It was odd that she went there to see the empty bed. The line about "he was the only family she ever had" seemed really expository and, while... From the first frame of this film, the tone was set up really nicely. The line about "he was the only family she ever had" seemed really expository and, while it was important information, it could have been delivered in a more indirect way. I loved the whole bit with the answering machine and the reveal of who the guy in the street was. The bit with the car hitting the guy was totally unnecessary and muddled everything up. I wish they could have connected another way. You see, it was confusing that they guy almost get by the asian girl's car and then actually gets hit by a totally different car. I guess my problem was, this movie was really awesome in it's tone, but the script got a little too clever for itself. read

  This movie works all around: the acting, directing, music placement, cinematography, editing, everything seemed to fall into place. I like it when a filmmaker knows the bounds of the script and understands how a written work should be treated. While the script wasn't too intriguing, it knew what it wanted to do and it stayed withing that. The director's voice wasn't loud or... I like it when a filmmaker knows the bounds of the script and understands how a written work should be treated. While the script wasn't too intriguing, it knew what it wanted to do and it stayed withing that. The director's voice wasn't loud or too visible, and the style and approach to creating the piece seemed appropriate.
  
  My only qualm is the music. Yes, it was very well placed and helped to inspire emotion, and it sounded nice, but it just wasn't my type of music. I would have personally preferred something with warm strings accented with piano or something; maybe an intermezzo, like in "Raging Bull." But this is by no means a negative thing. Rather, it is simply a matter of personal preferance.
  
  Overall, I wasn't thrilled with the premise, but it was executed nicely, and it was very watchable. I like it when a director understands what he/she is working with and knows what he/she wants to accomplish. Good job all around. read

  Wow! Gorgeous, gorgeous, cinematography accompanied by such an engaging and touching story. Camerawork - all the way around, terrific. The colors were beautifully rich. Very professional looking shots - glide/steady cam, aerial shots. The framing and compostion of your shots looked great. The editing was well done and pieced together the seperate scenes very nicely... Wow! Gorgeous, gorgeous, cinematography accompanied by such an engaging and touching story.
  
  Camerawork - all the way around, terrific. The colors were beautifully rich. Very professional looking shots - glide/steady cam, aerial shots. The framing and compostion of your shots looked great. The editing was well done and pieced together the seperate scenes very nicely.
  
  Audio/Music - I liked the quality of the audio. Had a nice, rich quality to it. The music was what really gave this piece such a haunting feeling to it. I'm hoping there aren't any copyright issues with Mr. Benten.
  
  Acting - very believable. I felt the grief of our two main characters - very convincing.
  
  All in all, quite a lovely piece. Gorgeous to look at, and a very moving short. Best of luck. read

  The bad news first, and that is that the film moves quite slowly, so that when the action picks up later on, my attention was wandering. There are several shots that are held for a long time when a moment or two would have been sufficient to convey the character's feelings or circumstances. The score was okay, but its mellowness seemed to slow the picture down, or at least... The good news is that there were some good shots and a good eye behind the camera. The editing was also decent, though the sound could have used some work. read

  This film held my attention from start to finish. Good camera work and editing delivers a good structure and pace. I must admit i was not sure of where the story would lead us or how it would end. The production value was very good, a wide variety of shots and angles good use of locations. Overall a solid peice of work. I was however a little perplexed at the ending. Given... Given this was the crux of the plot, it was as dramatic as it could have been. The man's dash to save the girl looked a little stilted and lacked real impact (pardon the pun). I felt this could have been given more impetous to emphasize the main plot point. The girl leaves her saviour in hospital by taking off in the car without saying anything to the guy seemed wrong to me. Left me a little unsatisfied, but on the whole a solid peice work. read

  I salute you for taking on a serious and subtlely emotional subject. Unfortunately I don't think the film works as is. It's slow and dreamy and ponderous and in the end there is not enough there and there is too much that is unsaid and unexpalined. Did the young man have a premonition that he had to save her? If so it appears that he actually causes her to step into harms way. Is she better now because at least this stranger survived? Cinematography was unremarkable, not really using the advantages of the film. It almost seemed retro and not in a good way. The editing is mundane and does not make the accident very dramatic or very real. There is really no way to tell about the acting because Alice has one mode all through the film - sort of detached depression. I hope she is a good actor because she is drop dead gorgeous. I don't really know what to say to make it better. First make the story more available and more compelling. Have some drama. Break the somber tone with something. Experiment. Besides the subject, there's not much risk taking here. Good luck on redoing this or on your next project. Experiment! read

  It seems there is some good instructors at UNT. The Acting was fairly solid. It seemed a bit forced, but *shrug* it was better than most here. My main crit would be on the sound. The music was right on, but the room-noise made for painful edits. I love that you 'showed' the story, instead of telling it. Nice.

  I think this was one of the best looking films I have seen on this site. It was very professional looking. The editing seems to flow together very well. As far as the acting goes the main actress pulled me in right away and conveyed her grief quite well. On the flip side I had trouble connecting with the principle actor. He didn't seem as convincing.   I enjoyed the composition of the shots and quite liked the blue filtering/lighting/theme. I thought this film showed a lot of promise. I particularly liked the way the opening and end sequences were nearly the same, but had different emotions attached. But there were a few things I didn't like, it did seem a bit overly slow in places and I also was confused about the male... I actually liked the fact that there wasn't any dialouge for a large part of the film and when the dialouge started it seemed intrusive and to cheapen the story. read

  I like the mood of this movie. I think it's cosy, delicate and well shooted. Nice sequences: hand on the bed and the first encounter of the 2 characters. I question, in the last part of the movie, the blue light sequences. I mean: I like them very much, but they are edited along with the scenes of the male character, wich are not blue lighted. This fritter the sequence and... I like the mood of this movie. I think it's cosy, delicate and well shooted. Nice sequences: hand on the bed and the first encounter of the 2 characters. I question, in the last part of the movie, the blue light sequences. I mean: I like them very much, but they are edited along with the scenes of the male character, wich are not blue lighted. This fritter the sequence and reduce the smoothness of the movie. Oh, about the male character... I don't know. I'm not so sure of the choice. His movie part seems less curated than the female part... But I can understand this: Deidre is wonderfull, and I think she breaks the screen. There's also some work to do about the audio, too noisy. But he overall shape of the movie works well, even thanks to a well choosed soundtrack. Hope to see soon other things from the director. Sorry for my english. read
