  The animation in your film is very cool and stylish. Half the time I cannot tell whether it is computer or actual cut outs. It's very impressive and the way you design your characters has a twisted appeal. However, I found the humour could not keep up with the animation. Whereas the animation has a creepy funniness about it, a guy falling in love and marrying himself could... The animation in your film is very cool and stylish. Whereas the animation has a creepy funniness about it, a guy falling in love and marrying himself could have been taken several directions. You chose safe, which is the not very memorable unfortunately. read

  Tom Priestley's "My One and Only" was a treat for my first TS video review. It's funny that this video tackles the theme of loving one's self as this is something that I have been personally giving much thought over in the past few days. Personal items aside, the route that Priestley takes us, given his 24 hour time table, is one that is well tread in terms of subject matter... It's funny that this video tackles the theme of loving one's self as this is something that I have been personally giving much thought over in the past few days.
  
  Personal items aside, the route that Priestley takes us, given his 24 hour time table, is one that is well tread in terms of subject matter and context but it is easily well off the beaten path by his (and his wife's) superb '2D Cardboard art'. This type of animation fits perfect with the length of this film and should definitely be commended for. A colorful palette crafts the world that is easy to connect with to the setting of a Launceston 2058. Bits of comedy peppered about keep a float the light voice-over tale as well (EX: Fist pumping date reaction and the bar girl are great standouts.)
  
  The V.O. works well for the piece then dips off the second half. I would have liked to see this continued to some extent. I understood where it was going on the second half but it wasn't closely tied together as the first. The lack of V.O. in the second half lead to to some depressing images which I felt could have been lightened up to tighten the piece as a whole.
  
  For a 24 hour project, I must say again that the style and animation are well executed for this piece. And while the writing may not be up to par - it does bring me down thoughtful paths as to where this story and context COULD go which is always a good thing.

  The what if of the film is soo new and good. nicely presented. the puppet cardboards are handled and shot very nicely. there is a fun yet thought provoking touch in the film. Though most of it is good... could have taken a little care about the mirror image of the man. as the mirror image don't move with the original image. apart from it its very well storyboarded.......   Brave & Bizarre

  I really enjoyed this short. The voice-over had great tone & pace. The storyline very orignal & carried the whole thing. The music could have been a bit more uplifting. I liked the flying saucer wedding vehicle, tying nicely in with him being a mad as a box of frogs. To then read this was done in 24hrs is amazing - I want to see what you can do with more time.

  I thought this short was great! The creativity was off the charts and the v.o. work sounded great. I hope to see a lot more of this and think it was amazing for this to be done in 24 hours. I have been involved in similar projects and know what it takes to get done in time. I think I would not have been able to pull this off. Good work.

  This little short is about finding your true love and following your dreams together... er.. ummm.. This little short is about breaking up and making up.. learning to live with flaws.. Oh hell, this little film is about entertainment, and as usual with this team, it does that just fine. You must have been exhausted by the time you finished, given your deadlines. A creative...   Not a big fan of animation but I really enjoyed this. The Low-fi feel was great and added texture to the piece, the narrator was perfect and infused the tale with genuine fun. A good story, a play on the traditional concept of one trying to find ones-self. As good and as enjoyable as any short film I have seen. Adam P.S. I keep having assignments stall or just not play.   A Great High Concept

  I felt the film was a great concept, with some caveats. I felt that the idea wasn't expanded on as much as it could be, but obviously the nature of the competition (24hour film making competition) meant the narrative had to be streamlined. I did however feel that 5minutes was overly long. this may have been because of the languid, but not unappealing, voice-over style. The... I felt the film was a great concept, with some caveats.   The script was amusing and the animation was deliberately playful and childlike, in a positive way reminding me of several British Children's TV shows from the mid nineties.
  
  I would like to see more of the filmmakers work, particular films they've had more time to produce. read

  Self love taken to the ultimate point. I loved it! The storyline was about a man who has bad luck in relationships. He is looking for the perfect soul mate and then it happened. . . The film wasn't smooth it was cut-out puppet style. the storyline was smooth and seamless and carried to the ultimate conclusion. Sometimes we just have to do the best we can with the relationship... Self love taken to the ultimate point. I loved it!

  I first read the production notes before reviewing the submission, and I must say after hearing that it was a puppetry experiment manufactured in one day I was a but skeptical. However, I was quickly taken back by surprise at the first shot.I was surprised by the professionalism i saw in this film. Mostly it was the 24 hour thing that threw me off, wow! The story was well constructed,... I first read the production notes before reviewing the submission, and I must say after hearing that it was a puppetry experiment manufactured in one day I was a but skeptical. However, I was quickly taken back by surprise at the first shot.I was surprised by the professionalism i saw in this film. Mostly it was the 24 hour thing that threw me off, wow! The story was well constructed, and the puppetry was lovely and creative. I laughed hysterically in the beginning when the man was on the mountain having a revelation with a flash light lit and surrounding him! That image worked so well, and once again was very creative. I can't wait to see what you two could produce with a full TWO days! lol. read
