  Very good. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I wasn't crazy about the editing in the fist minute or so. You developed a good dream-like state of memories and nightmares. I saw the ending coming but you did a good job in placing a lot of doubt where the story would go. I think the mask could have been optimized a bit more, but I really have no complaints.   Good film. A tad confusing and too long but good quality. The editing in the opening parts is too much and the fade to blacks distracting. Fewer and perhaps longer shots should help to create better tension. The cut to the dream sequence was just beautiful, another level. The actress mesmerising. Was not convinced by the male lead part. Great make-up, convincing. The black figure? Don't know what to make of it, can understand it's use but it just looked wrong. Too low budget horror film whereas the film it is in is of a higher quality. The goings from him to her got a bit too much. The clock - I didn't understand it, liked it but didn't understand. Great 'scream' shot. Very nice. As you can probably tell I'm watching the film back as I write this, and still enjoying it. But not quite getting it. Well done. A quality production. Should be considered for competition. read

  Not being a big fan of surrealism, except in small doses where it's obviously a dream for example, I can't say I really got the subject of the film. I did'nt get the name, then perhaps it has either no or many meanings. I guess it was mean't to leave one with many questions: Is the guy a deranged psychopath; obviously, but is he known to her, maybe her father punishing her... Not being a big fan of surrealism, except in small doses where it's obviously a dream for example, I can't say I really got the subject of the film. I did'nt get the name, then perhaps it has either no or many meanings. I guess it was mean't to leave one with many questions: Is the guy a deranged psychopath; obviously, but is he known to her, maybe her father punishing her (he's married it would appear), what's with the reaper character, she appears not to be frightened of him, would she rather death than the suffering she's enduring. There are so many questions but then I guess that makes the piece a success because here I am wanting all these answers.
  
  Now to all the other aspects of this piece. Great work all round is all I can say. The camera work was great and I couldn't fault the score. As a project to demonstrate the mechanics of film making, top marks. The plot, sorry, lost on me. Keep it up and good luck! read

  Both characters in this film suffer from extreme isolation and loneliness. I like the way the story moves with beautiful, natural photography and imagery representing the obsession that one has with nightmares and a wild imagination, while the other has an obsession to keep a watchful eye on his victim. The facial expressions of the female character say a lot without a single... Both characters in this film suffer from extreme isolation and loneliness. Not a lot of negative points can be said of this well made production except on a very personal opinion, I think the toy rabbit in the hand distracted from the storytelling and was perhaps an element that could have been left out. Overall, fantastic job! read

  Well produced but it's very unclear as to what it's about, even having read the synopsis, I didn't see the story. It makes a great abstract piece. The locations are very interesting (Ireland, England?) but the soundtrack is a little difficult to absorb. All in all, a very interesting film.

  This was a very deep piece. I must say up front that you have a beautiful way of painting with the camera and light. You also have a great sense of direction. You always make the actors look their best with the right camera angels and light. Mostly, every element is used to push the premise forward. Every shot is with purpose, the sound with purpose, the scenes with purpose... This was a very deep piece. I must say up front that you have a beautiful way of painting with the camera and light. You also have a great sense of direction. You always make the actors look their best with the right camera angels and light. Mostly, every element is used to push the premise forward. Every shot is with purpose, the sound with purpose, the scenes with purpose. Nothing is wasted, very decomposed to just the essential elements of story telling.   The movie looked fantastic. The photography was spot on. I loved it. I would hire Colin if I was shooting a production in Europe. The editing was was good. The sound was appropriate for the scenes. I did not like the story. It was hard to follow for a Yankee like me. I guess it was an artsy thing. Beautiful job overall. The pricipal male actor was great at looking creepy.

  This film was so clean. I loved the mannerisms of the man. I could tell something was wrong with him the minute I saw him. I knew he was hiding something. I liked how the woman felt like her existence with the man was just a nightmare. I admit, I'm not sure what the figure in her dreams was... I assume it's a reminder of her impending doom. I'm no expert, but I would say... This film was so clean.

  As I said before CHRISTOPHER DUNNE has got the magic stick! Don't make me say it third a time:) Optimistic 9 is the second short I've reviewed from the Dunne factory and once again his work has proven to make my Dark Knight Rise. So jumping straight in, O9 hits us with a beautifully colored and brilliantly edited series of set shots ( nice work Colan ) depicting WILL McCUE... As I said before CHRISTOPHER DUNNE has got the magic stick! Hes here, then there, then over there. Ok I get it! But " where's the beef?" Chris?
  
  Then Bang!! Is that a tied up victim on the floor of his closet. It's always the quiet ones you gotta worry about. JACKIE STEELE plays the role of of a tied up victim held captive in Wills house. This guy is creepy, and unlike traditional scenarios it doesn't look like the police are going to barge in and save Jackie anytime soon. So she finds a way to escape. Not with her body but with her mind. Dunne transports us into a surreal dream world where Jackie awakens to serene surroundings. These scenes are deliciously filmed and laced with dreamy depth of field shots and visual metaphors. Similar to CANT SEE ME 2010 ( One of Dunnes earlier works) O9 stretches out our perception of just how much time is actually going by.
  
  After some time Jackie must once more return to the terrifying reality of her real time captivity. Will continues to ooze more and more spooky juice throughout ever scene. He's a machine. A creepy serial killer machine!
  
  As time passes. Jackie continues to escape to her fantasy world. Only to inevitably return to the truth. Will starts to unroll the plastic carpet and we all know what is meant to happen next. Jackie escapes back into her dream world and makes the choice to control her own reality. Turning the tables on Will by freeing her mind. Nice touch gang!!
  
  O9 is a visual work of art. Which uses contrasting elements to illustrate both a beautiful and shocking story. Of course it's underlying messages can ultimately bare different meanings depending on the viewer. But I'm slowly comming to the understanding that Dunnes works will continually raise questions. Challenging us visual as well as emotionally. A special shout out to his entire team on this one. Keep up the good work. Thanks for reading. read
