Synopsis

John has one chance to keep his job as a car salesman. When luck never seems to be on his side, a customer comes in that brings the winds of change. Instead of looking up for John however, things take a turn for the worse.

• 'Sales Day' marks my very first film made. Actually this was my senior thesis film for my BA in Media Production in 2005. I have a previous cut of this short up on this site and I re-cut this in early 2010. Yeah, it's been through quite a few cuts. I finally settled on this one. (For good this time;). The tone is a bit darker now and I tried to hide as much of the imperfections as I could,(as you might catch on if you've seen my previous cut). I think over the years though, I have grown as an artist, always trying to do better and I can't wait to share with you some work I've done. Check out some of my other videos http://vimeo.com/user1838910 'Sales Day' was a 10 page script and I had a lot of great people working with me. My DP - Alfeo, my two producers - Malika and Tigi, my amazing cast and brilliant crew. We had 10 weeks for prep, production and post in total. We shot this in 4 days and it took about 3 weeks to come up with a presentable cut. Of course like any student film we encountered a few problems like the van not showing up with equipment on time, extras not showing up, poor sound, running out of time, etc (Murphy's Law anyone?). In the end, it was all still an AMAZING experience and all went well. We tried to do something different with this short using the Panasonic DVX100A and attached the PS Technik+Prime lenses to give it the feel and look of film. This was an exciting new thing for us, especially me. 'Sales Day' was awarded the Winner of Best Short for VidFest in 2005 in my school. Also my previous cut made it to the official selection of season 3: festival 3 of Trigger Street's online short film festival and was in the top 50 picked. I am very proud of Sales Day. I learned a lot from my mistakes and I especially appreciate all the notes and comments left for me and the previous 'Sales Day' cut. I hope to do much better, stronger and exciting films in the near future. I do hope you enjoy my final cut and I'm looking forward to reading all reviews, good and harsh ;) Cheers - Sam
