  I really think he should have shot the guy! I mean the main character went that far and it looked like he was going to shoot but he was stopped by two guys who came out of nowhere to take him away. Why? Where were they going to take him? Why couldn't those two guys do the job if they were already there to begin with? Wasn't this supposed to be a high level operation? I liked... I really think he should have shot the guy!

  I liked the concept of the story but I think there are a number of things that should be done in order to improve the story.
  
  1. Anybody who's watching would have shot the guy even though they really didn't want to. When it comes to a loved one and you're put in a scenatio like that one, the target's dead!
  
  
  2.Don't actually make it a game. It can actually be a sick way to have innocent civilians kill for an organization and have the civilians, if they survive look and sound crazy when they have to explain that it was a talk show host that made them kill whom ever the desired target is.
  
  
  3. I saw the target as a young internet billionair who pissed off a lot of people and was doing stuff on the net that he wasn't supposed to be doing and therefore he was being targeted. Don't have him tied up. Create a genuine scene between two people who have never met and take it from there.
  
  
  4. After he kills the guy the screen can show the girl being released and the main character having to face the consequences by getting aressted or whatever will make it more engaging.
  
  
  5.At the beginning the film begins with the titles explaining that it's a spy movie and you hope the audience enjoys the flick. I would suggest you take that out and use the time to add to the story. For example, at the end add a task that requires the main character to steal valuable information from the young billionair before he kills him and at the end he steels info that's on a computer key and when he's arrested a police officer asks for it and he gives it to him when the coast is clear. Obviously the officer is posing as an officer to get the key containing the info.
  
  Finally, I think there should be more emotion in the scenes that are there to build tension.
  
  1. The guy can't find his girlfriend and a guy on t.v. pops up and tells him what's what. There should be confusion anger fear.
  
  2. The last scene when he's confused and has to shoot the guy it should be intense for him because he's neverkilled anyone before and if he doesn't his girlfriend dies.
  
  It's a conspiracy movie and I think it's good but it lacks those elements to make it into something that could hold up as feature or just a solid short from begining to end.
  
  These are just suggestions and I felt that I could help because I liked the idea.

  The begining started out typically and established the relationship between the main players. The action portion was a bit thin but maybe I am spoiled by the big screen.   The action portion was a bit thin but maybe I am spoiled by the big screen. It had a Matrix feel to it like where Neo was being guided through the office by somone who knew everything about the place but wasn't really there. I found myself thinking, "if he knows so much about it, why does he have this guy running around with so little information"
  
  When the gun was thrown into the mix and final decisions had to be made I wondered what I would do. It made me think. I ultimaltely decided that I would have failed at the game because I did not feel that the person had established credibility or a level of trust that I could commit to.
  
  What would I do different? That is the hard part. It is easy to critique. I think I would build up the beginning a bit more and show the woman actually abducted from her vehicle on the way to work. Some kind of precision grab where the bad guys looked like they totally knew what they were doing.
  
  Then I would introduce the game to him and send him on his mission.
  
  I would make it clear that there were serious consequences if he did not play along. Have him test the boundaries here and there and get burned for it to keep him on task.
  
  I like it when the bad guy loses and the good guy gets the girl so I would have figured out a way for the good guy to beat the game and maybe expose it.
  
  Another approach might be to have his situation feed into the next game. Maybe that was your intention. For example, maybe the person he was supposed to kill was the looser from the previous game. The last image could be him tied up in a chair with a monitor showing the next contestant being guided toward him!
  
  Spy games was a fun short. The story was simple but kept me interested. It looked liked something that could easily be enhanced for a larger production.

  There's a lot to like about Spy Games. The concept is very intriguing, the relationship between Daniel and Tanya feels real and it's nicely shot. In fact, I think the concept could make for a very good feature film. Unfortunately, that's one of the things holding it back. As good of a short as Spy Games is, it only seems to skim the surface of its idea. Neither the game nor... There's a lot to like about Spy Games. The concept is very intriguing, the relationship between Daniel and Tanya feels real and it's nicely shot. In fact, I think the concept could make for a very good feature film. Unfortunately, that's one of the things holding it back.
  
  As good of a short as Spy Games is, it only seems to skim the surface of its idea. Neither the game nor Daniel's connection to it is given much depth beyond the game suddenly popping up on his TV. Then there are questions that need to be answered (such as how Tanya was taken and how is Daniel being watched), so that certain things don't feel like they're done just to get the story going.
  
  Another problem I had with the film was the lack of obstacles for Daniel once he starts playing the game. He gets into the building with easy because the game distracts the security, he's told about the key and he's told what room he has to go to. All of this happens without anything going wrong and, even worse, without Daniel doing much work.
  
  Despite the problems I listed, and given the time restriction the filmmakers were under, I believe that Spy Games is a good short film. Unfortunately, with more work, it could have been a great short film. read

  I wasnt sure what the short film would be about but it was quite entertaining. Very good use of the areas available. Nice editing and good actting from all roles. I liked the matrix type cubicle setup. Had a splash of comedy which was great. Overall good entry and contribution

  The film is a fantasy about a man drawn into a spy game from television. This isn't a reality show but a fantasy. The Tv interacts with the storyline as if the TV is alive and cognicent. The making of sentient electronis objects is an oriental thing and sometimes works and sometimes is humorous. This is well done. The lighting is whatever is at hand but camera angles always...   Almost everything about this was perfectly executed. Good acting in the the three principal roles. In a minor role, the guy who played the prisoner (director of the film?) didn't look scared enough. Great cinematography. Exception: the hand-held camera was annoying at times.   I did not catch how long you had to make this short something about 48 hours (shooting? editing? both?), but it definately shows high production value. The acting, direction, editing, and cinematography, are all good. I do not have any issues with this quality short. You should be in the business making movies, you definately show that you can make a B movie if you had the...   I found the concept of the film to be extremely clever. The shots were well composed and the acting was good. I think you built up the suspense of the moment and didn't give us a false ending, which I appreciated. I applaud you for taking a risk. Good luck on your next films.
