  *) obviously the budget here is low, so it's forgivable that we see all sorts of modern city elements when it's supposed to be 1917 Vienna
  *) The camerawork was commendable in the opening, showing nicely the details of the room
  *) I'm not sure what your aims are in terms of final product, but there's no story here. Obviously, if you were just going for an impression, that's fine, but keep in mind that 2 and 1/2 minutes is plenty of time to build a story or at least rudimentary narrative elements (of which there were none here). I'm not even sure what kind of art this students makes, and the references to Nietzsche seem vague and unnecessary.
  *) the music, while good at the start, was used too long -- mostly because like I felt the 'establishing' beat had passed, and we needed to move onto something else
  
  But again, if you make a short without story, you're really only going to get a simple effect.

  This was an interesting short with a bold message. I enjoyed the music to this film. At first I thought it was from one of the old masters, and was pleasantly surprised to learn it was an original composition. The music served the film nicely. I liked the idea of a student applying to the Vienna art school. As the student walked down the street, I wasn't sure where the film... This was an interesting short with a bold message. I liked the idea of a student applying to the Vienna art school. As the student walked down the street, I wasn't sure where the film was shot. So many of the old buidlings reminded me of sections of Greenwich village, in New York. I liked the idea that if Hitler had been accepted into the Vienna Art school he would have abandoned Mein Kampf, and devoted himself to piece. I felt it took to long for this to happen, but it was a clever twist at the end. Good work. read

  This is a well done short. The quality is top notch and the music is melodious and calming. The short has a hypnotizing, peaceful effect sort of like the title implies. I enjoyed the end and discovering he was accepted into the Vienna School. It was a thoughtful twist, while also giving depth to his artistry skills we witnessed. A quiet, peaceful short with top production... This is a well done short. The quality is top notch and the music is melodious and calming.   I enjoyed this film for a few reason. First let me say that while the main character didn't speak i appreciated the directors decision to allow back round noises such as the crackling of the fire and the chirping of the birds. The main character goes to the the academy for inspiration for induction into the school. I like how they show the manifestation of this young mans dreams... I enjoyed this film for a few reason. The main character goes to the the academy for inspiration for induction into the school. I like how they show the manifestation of this young mans dreams to reality. The music was also pitch perfect for this short film. Nice job and keep up the goos work. read

  Would this have really changed much? This has been a subject of debate for some time. The truth is, no one will know. History unfolded in the manner that it unfolded and the world has to bear that. In terms of the film itself. It was a highly artistic, well produced piece. Great music, I liked the use of focus throughout the film, it was effective, and given the plot twist... Would this have really changed much? This has been a subject of debate for some time. The truth is, no one will know. History unfolded in the manner that it unfolded and the world has to bear that. In terms of the film itself. It was a highly artistic, well produced piece. Great music, I liked the use of focus throughout the film, it was effective, and given the plot twist it was a useful narrative tool for distorted/alternate reality. If I was to be finicky, there are certain elements in the mise-en-scene that wouldn't have been present in 1913. Such as some of the dust jackets on the books in glossy paper? The modern red brick architecture outside? Also, it was unclear whether it was a glimpse of Hitler burning the manuscript of Mein Kampf there, in 1913, or in the future, because didn't he write Mein Kampf in prison in the early 20's? Anyway, this aside, it was a good short nonetheless, thought provoking and powerful. read

  Good work, man. Believe it or not, what I'm doing here and what I did with 'Noir' are Free-Will Reviews.   However, I dug your visual style in 'Noir' and had to check out 'The Art of Peace'.
  
  This is a good one technically. All of the shots helped create a mellow feel. The cinematography was perfect. While the actor didn't speak, his emotions did the job just fine. Perhaps better that way (private joke). The score accompanied the film wonderfully. My only concern, if I had to have "just one" was that despite of the superimpose: Vienna, 1913, It still felt very modern day to me.
  
  Some of the pictures/paintings on the wall felt contemporary. Maybe they weren't, but I got that vibe. Not that I'm a period piece art department Nazi (no pun intended), but I happen to know that spiral notebooks weren't invented until the 1920s - several years after your story takes place. Believe it or not, back in high school my English teacher made us write a report on the history of the notebook and how it contributed to the world of writers, poets, etc. Boring times, but informative useless information that I get to spring up ten years later in a triggerstreet review.
  
  Now, on to story. The ending was perfect. I was merely rooting for the kid to get his acceptance letter into the school he was applying to. Not only did he get in, but WHOA, the kid is HITLER. Then it hit me... Hitler didn't get into art school. Then it hit me again, what if Hitler did get into art school? As I pondered Hitler's alternate fate, BAM, the Mein Kampf book gets dropped into the fire. POWERFUL FILMMAKING, my friend. It's speaks without one word being uttered. And to only be eighteen, you've got a hell of a journey ahead of you. Damn impressive. read
