  Beautiful and bittersweet. I was certainly surprised when the mermaid ran into the glass, and I figured out immediately that she was a little mermaid caught in a fish tank, but you carried on the story introducing a love-lorn human wishing he could be with this beautiful creature. You had lovely music, and you were able to animate subtle, but effective performances in the characters... Beautiful and bittersweet.   A superb short film

  What a wondefulf short film have to say that I really liked it. It was such a simplistic short, simple idea, simple music but it worked because of that. The music was very soothing and suited the film, allowing it to develop at a gentle speed and the time length was perfect. But I think the idea is so much deeper then just two minutes. The idea of captivity and freedom, espcially... What a wondefulf short film have to say that I really liked it.   But I think the idea is so much deeper then just two minutes. The idea of captivity and freedom, espcially when the mermaid hits the glass its that sort of feeling of isolation, she is the only mermaid in there and a pet to this man who is reacting like she is brand new, exactly the same as any animal, question is is she happy with that?
  A good opening, espicially that you don't let it on for a short amount of time that she is actually in a tank and even when she strikes the glass I was wondering what was going to happen.
  Good animation, great music, a brillant short film James. read

  I can't begin to image what kind of time goes into a piece like this as I am not acquainted with this type of filmmaking, but it must be very time cosuming. The good thing is with the right software you can get camera angles the real world guys can only dream of. This piece was very lighthearted and whimsical, also nicely rendered. It gives you the sense of one thing then twists... It gives you the sense of one thing then twists it at the end. I have seen similar things with different circumstances, but for a single person to do every aspect of this piece is to be commended. If I had one critque it would be a stronger story. And if you have all these abilities to get whatever camera angles you wish and you're not bond by real-world filmmaking, then you could make something truly outrageous and other worldly. read

  I thought the film was very soothing. In a form that makes it very watchable. I liked the clue, though it wasn't that grand, but it made you think about what it would be like to be, eeh..., well, stuck in a watertank. The modelling was good, not realistic, but good enough to actually not mind about it. This helps to focus on the story. Yet, the animation could have a little... I thought the film was very soothing.

  Probably the most pleasant movie moments that I have had at TriggerStreet. The music was perfect and the CG was excellent. It may have a message about freedom and possession, but it's also as tranquil and soothing as having a real aquarium in your room to gaze at.

  In terms of animation, Curtis has caught wistful facial expressions beautifully, of this there is no doubt. Character and beauty is imbued into the mermaid to such an extent that it is indeed possible to fall in love with her. That is the pinnacle of the animation. The story? A parodox and a concept - the mermaid within a fish-tank - can be interpreted in many ways... two worlds,... In terms of animation, Curtis has caught wistful facial expressions beautifully, of this there is no doubt. Character and beauty is imbued into the mermaid to such an extent that it is indeed possible to fall in love with her. That is the pinnacle of the animation. The story? A parodox and a concept - the mermaid within a fish-tank - can be interpreted in many ways... two worlds, differences in 'scales' (excuse the pun!) and love across boundaries. A lovely little animation. read

  Cool simple little story. The animation was great. You didn't have to deal with all the red tape with SAG and actors contracts. Animation actors are the way to go. The editting was smooth and went well with your music. Nice twist at the end. Good luck with your futrure animation projects.

  The scene starts off looking like a 3d version from Disney's The Little Mermaid when Ariel goes exploring in the sunken ship and finds the treasures then it shows that she is in a fish tankwith her owner watching her.I would give this a 5 star rating -Excellent animation-.

  Not a bad little animation to show off your talents. All by your lonesome, as well.So when is Disney picking you up. Just on the sheer effort and patience that this must have taken is amazing, and should be applauded mightily. But I think the story is great, as well. I just got to the point where I thought "Okay, this mermaid swimming is great. So what? Good animation"... Not a bad little animation to show off your talents.   Wow! That was quite awe inspiring. Very beautiful, understated animation with some powerful metaphors. At first I had this real sense of a free spirit - the beauty of that freedom. Then you saw the expression on her face, and wondered "why the sadness?". It all became clear. Somehow this film contained a lot of metaphors about both the beauty & tragedy in life, and about longing... Wow! That was quite awe inspiring. Very beautiful, understated animation with some powerful metaphors. At first I had this real sense of a free spirit - the beauty of that freedom. Then you saw the expression on her face, and wondered "why the sadness?". It all became clear. Somehow this film contained a lot of metaphors about both the beauty & tragedy in life, and about longing. I watched this film twice & can watch it again and again. James - you manage to combine an impressive technical talent for animation, with a real creative depth and sensitivity. This is the best animation I've seen on triggerstreet - and (in terms of feel/creative content) is one I've the best I've seen anywhere in the past ten years! A real MUST SEE film! read
