  I don't think his first day was so disastrous. I think he did considerably well for his first day. Especially since kids these day have no ambition to get off the couch and work. The film itself was very well shot. With no dialogue the story was told extremely well. I wasn't a paperboy so i have no clue as to how but think a lot more could have been done to show the hardships... I don't think his first day was so disastrous.   The film itself was very well shot. With no dialogue the story was told extremely well. I wasn't a paperboy so i have no clue as to how but think a lot more could have been done to show the hardships a paperboy faces. The scene with the chihuahua was great but instead of so much time focusing on that one particular scene he could have gotten chased down the street by a dog, or someone showing him exactly where they want their paper to be in the morning...etc.
  At the same time I feel your film was very well done without those things. read

  I really enjoyed this short. It was a bit slow going at first, but I appreciate it for what it is. It's shot MOS (absent of any dialogue) and the choice to go Black and White lent to the theme/aesthetic of newspaper print really well. What I'm trying to say, is that it's spare and stripped down, and it works. The bit with the dog was hilarious, especially the YELP sound effect... I really enjoyed this short.   The bit with the dog was hilarious, especially the YELP sound effect when the boy yanked the knife. I laughedo ut loud at that. Cinematography was decent, although a few parts were significantly better executed than others. I thought you did a fine job on the shots where you clearly took your time to use a dolly, or obtain a creative angle. Audio was minimal, but ample. Editing was utilized to move the piece along fairly well, aside from the intro minute or so, which dragged a bit as I had mentioned. The only portion of the film that really felt off-beat was the outtro scene in the classroom. We never experience that world, the characters (students) hold no bearing for us as an audience, so why incorporate it in the last 30 seconds? It felt forced and tacked on.
  
  All-in-all, a really nice piece of work. Funny stuff, keep em coming. read

  I really liked this piece and was reminded how easy it is in life for simple everyday situations to suddenly turn into strange situations, which the more you try and solve with what seems like a sensible solution the more trouble you find yourself in. A classic situation used in many feature films. I thought the film was shot really well and there were some beautifully composed...   I thought the film was shot really well and there were some beautifully composed shots. The director really has a good eye for story telling. A few shots did seem a little out of place in terms of the perspective, distance of the camera to the door for some of the POV shots. Also I was not a fan of the fade to blacks during the front door section. I thought a different type of transition that did not take us out of the action would have been better and perhaps not needed at all.
  Overall I the film, the story and the characters. I was not sure about using such a well known piece of music, for me I would have liked to see the director being more inventive.

  First off, I could barely see your film because it is so small in its presentation. From what I could see with my nose up against the screen, I liked. What can I say that hasn't probably already been said about this film...and rightfully so. It was funny. It was well filmed. The music was perfect for it. The Paperboy character was well done and could definitely lend itself... First off, I could barely see your film because it is so small in its presentation. The music was perfect for it. The Paperboy character was well done and could definitely lend itself (or himself) to any number of sequels and further adventures (not unlike Mr. Bean). It obviously stems from a great and universal sense of humor. I will actively seek out more of your films. Great job! read

  This is nicely shot and the editing is flawless. Good choice of music and you get an excellent performance out of your actor. I'm not sure I understood the ending - it seemed to happen very fast (particularly after the laborious build up). I think there should have been more storyline in this. Also, why was the screen so small?

  The storyline is completw with the rookie paperboy and his first day on the job. I thought the action was a little sparce and the scene with the dog left something on the cutting room floor? The film was adequate to the tasks asked of it. The shooting angles were considered when outdoors to avoid dimmout from sun interference. The scenes were frequently shot from too far...   The film was adequate to the tasks asked of it. The shooting angles were considered when outdoors to avoid dimmout from sun interference.
  
  The scenes were frequently shot from too far away. The camera isn't your eye. What is close and in full view is far away in the camera lenses.
  
  Did I like it? Yes.
  The representation of a first day is good and the scheme is adequate. More adventures would make it more comedic and viewable. read

  It was a clean, well-executed piece. More often than not people can't tell a story without words. This isn't one of those. Although it took some time for me to be engaged in the story once I got there I was hooked. The dog and his fated end took me for a surprise and that was fun. Choice of BW was nice as well. The direction was always moving and helped promote the story... It was a clean, well-executed piece. More often than not people can't tell a story without words. This isn't one of those.   My only complaint was that the movie was a square inch on my monitor, which may be a media player issue. Good job, I liked it. read

  A very good looking, but very slow moving, short. It's also encoded very, very small. It's too small. It's hard to see. I'm not sure if that's intentional, to have it look sharper, but it's simply too small. I had to replay it a couple times to read the print during the climax.   It's in black and white, which looks fine, but I like the invention of color. I wish the filmmaker had used it. It might have been something to look at as it dragged on.
  
  The film was very well shot and very well edited. The camera moves very skillfully. The young lead actor was fantastic. He doesn't speak, so he did a lot with little.
  
  Not a lot happens in this film. There's a lot of music; the same music on an on and on, actually. And a tiny little climax that makes you smile. read

  This was supposedly in color, but what I saw was black and white, except for some of the end credits. That aside, photography, editing, and lighting were all good. The actors again were difficult to understand, but I think that was more a function of their accents rather than their diction or the sound. What was the music?   Stop the press! I've just seen a great example of short form movie-making. 'The Paperboy' is a pretty awesome, slick little film. If I had to author a review in a paper for it, I'd start by saying, "Great core concept is done complete justice by the fantastic execution of the filmmakers' ideas." This film has such a great style about it -loved the choice of compositions,... Stop the press! I've just seen a great example of short form movie-making. 'The Paperboy' is a pretty awesome, slick little film. If I had to author a review in a paper for it, I'd start by saying, "Great core concept is done complete justice by the fantastic execution of the filmmakers' ideas." This film has such a great style about it -loved the choice of compositions, great attention to details and subdetails in your script. Reminded me of a moving comic strip almost. There's definitely room here to expand on tons of little characters -the guy that almost chases him for no reason, for starters. I love that the movie almost has little to no dialogue. The entire thing with Doris the Dog was hilarious. Beautiful shots by the way. I love the silhouetted animal gnawing at the sandwich. The editing was extremely well-done. Your 'Paperboy' gives a great performance, all with his face -we see everything on his face. That kid's a good actor. My only beef with the film is a small one: I didn't like the soundtrack choice. But that's it. Everything else was top notch. Great work. Best of luck on your next films. read
