  Outside of being completely offensive and difficult to understand due to it's confusing message and thematic purpose, I questioned whether the filmmakers had a clear and concise idea about what they were trying to say/convey. The caricatures were utterly distasteful and sad. It was difficult to appreciate the film within the film once cameras were turned on the filmmakers... It was difficult to appreciate the film within the film once cameras were turned on the filmmakers and break the wall when they seemed to be laughing at themselves throughout. A very disturbing message indeed. read

  Nice idea to make a movie about making a movie, but it was a little more like a You Tube video than a short film. It didn't really engage me. There was no real tension in the story line. It could have been a lot shorter. I liked a few techniques you used like using more camera movement when it was "real time". I liked the sound effects. Some of the acting wasn't too hot. Overall,... Nice idea to make a movie about making a movie, but it was a little more like a You Tube video than a short film.

  Overall, the experimental nature of the film was commendable. read

  Well, I'm quite sure that this short film has probably already garnered it's share of mixed reviews! Back in Hollywood history. There used to be a practice of Caucasians painting themselves up with make-up to portray colored raced peoples, particularly African Americans, in an effort to offer up racist views and make parody out of established social inequalities. Sometimes... Well, I'm quite sure that this short film has probably already garnered it's share of mixed reviews! Back in Hollywood history. There used to be a practice of Caucasians painting themselves up with make-up to portray colored raced peoples, particularly African Americans, in an effort to offer up racist views and make parody out of established social inequalities. Sometimes it was done purely out of racist intention, and sometimes it was done because the people making the films actually did not want to employ blacks to work in the exclusive members only exclusive film industry circles and because they could. That all changed, though, after I'm sure countless lawsuits among other factors. I say why go back to an age old offensive practice when there is not need? This film was actually a just a little too corny for me to take seriously and therefore wasn't very offensive. But for others may be another story. There is one successful modern movie I think it's called Tropic Thunder where a Caucasian plays a colored person in recent film. I would not suggest it. The story was not planned out well enough. The audio was difficult to understand at times. There were some humorous aspects like the tooth picks sticking out of the hair. The actor actually did display talent in voice acting, so may find work outside of the lens if he really enjoys character acting other races than his own I would suggest commercial voice or narration work. read

  As we watch a film like this we know deep down that as critical reviewers we should be very scornful of it. Totally irreverent and politically incorrect, scattershot story, poor enunciation that makes us work way to hard to understand what's being said, and then in the midst of it, it stops, takes us away to the film crew, where we discover that's all they got.. Totally irreverent and politically incorrect, scattershot story, poor enunciation that makes us work way to hard to understand what's being said, and then in the midst of it, it stops, takes us away to the film crew, where we discover that's all they got.. There's no ending and they have no clue what to do about it. Once they have an off the cuff solution they are too lazy to put the scene together, but eventually they do, just to be done with it. This crazy out of story experience is a jolt, and in all honesty, even as funny as it is, it goes on too long.. The saddest part of all this is that despite this unfocused, unplanned, adhoc approach, I loved it. read

  No matter what the situation, I always try to find something positive to say in every piece of work I come across because even though we may or may not be approving of it all, to transfer it from mind into fruition is a talent in itself that needs to be commended. With that, The Shill Bidder is exactly what the director describes it as, a short with "no direction or vision",... No matter what the situation, I always try to find something positive to say in every piece of work I come across because even though we may or may not be approving of it all, to transfer it from mind into fruition is a talent in itself that needs to be commended. With that, The Shill Bidder is exactly what the director describes it as, a short with "no direction or vision", and as far as what motivation they had for making this, that also is unclear to me. It seems to like the idea was to get on camera and say things in a sketch comedy sort of way, and mix it together with some behind the scenes footage. I honestly have no idea what the meaning of this film was, but in some strange way, I think that was the purpose. But as they so eloquently put it, everyone's gotta have a dream, which they are absolutely right in saying as well as believing. I just think they wanted to put something out there just for the sake of saying they did it, and from my perspective, they more than accomplished their feat. read

  Comedy is supposed to be funny, I was taught, but grinding my teeth through this 10 minutes of drivel wasn't funny at all. It lacked comedic timing, humour, scripting, characterization and development, leading me to believe these lads had absolutely no idea of what they were attempting to do. I think this attempt was aptly summed up by one of the cast members during the...   I think this attempt was aptly summed up by one of the cast members during the filming, when he suggested that, and I quote, " lets get this sh**----- of a film finished" at which point I finally smiled in approval and relief. read

  I'm sorry but I'm not exactly sure what was going on here. The cut from acted scenes to documentational ones were weird and the only people that would actually enjoy something like this is the people who are involved, because it seems to me like an inside joke that no-else would get. but it looked like you were all having a laugh so its ok.

  I have mixed feelings about this one. The production quality was very good. Liked the camera work and editing. Not too sure about the storyline, though. The beginning was good, but kind of tapered off in the middle. And the end seemed kind of forced. It didn't make much sense. Overall, I think these guys have a lot of potential.   Another short where the dialect is so thick it was virtually impenetrable to my ears. Also, the slang is unfamiliar to me. I had no idea what this movie was about. The second part seemed improvised, which can be a good thing, but in this case is not. The lighting is too dim in some places, too bright in others. The blackouts between scenes were too long.   Seems like the cast could have been funny, but this was a mess of a film, and it was pretty hard to get through. Blackface and fake dreadlocks wasn't much to start with, and nothing actually made sense. Get together and come up with a tight script, and I bet this team can put together something worth seeing. There's potential, but this was a disaster of a short film. Why even... Seems like the cast could have been funny, but this was a mess of a film, and it was pretty hard to get through.
