  This movie was horrible. I did not enjoy this one bit. i would die if i ever had to see this movie ever again. Not only was this movie extremely boring but it also had a lack of a good script. In fact it didn't even have a script. This movie was six minutes and fourty-six seconds of horrible pain.

  A nice attempt really but it falls short in a couple of areas. The lighting left a lot to be desired. I missed the ending completely. It went so dark. The simple wooden cross at the beginning looked a little out of place among all the marble headpieces but maybe you intended that. I am not sure when the Commonwealth infantrymen fought with caps on instead of berets. Oh well... A nice attempt really but it falls short in a couple of areas. The lighting left a lot to be desired.   Good attempt to package the true story into a short. Technically, I felt the music could have been more even throughout the film. Also, when the man enters the room and sits in the sofa, the wall behind him looked empty. You could have put two long guns cross-wise or could have shot that scene from a different angle.   The shot of the trees was really cool. The battle scenes were impressively shot. I loved how the neighbor showed up and was so kind. The acting in this film was really strong. The older gentleman did an excellent job of emoting when he was all alone. The cross editing of the battle scenes andthe fireworks was impressive. It was a powerful movie.   An interesting, well produced film. The lead actor was terrific, the others good also, and the setup was pretty good, though the audio was a bit loud at the graveyard. The reenactments were pretty well done, except for the soldier being gray-haired, seems like he would've been younger. The denoument was nicely done, all in all excellent job with what you did, seems like you... An interesting, well produced film.   Three Hundred Reviews - should I be proud of that or do I have way too much time on my hands?. First of all, congratulations on the idea - when I talk to my Grandfather about the war, it still affects him, there's so much that he holds inside of him, and still so much that he holds back, it's just unimaginable to people like me and you (well I don't know anything about you,...   First of all, congratulations on the idea - when I talk to my Grandfather about the war, it still affects him, there's so much that he holds inside of him, and still so much that he holds back, it's just unimaginable to people like me and you (well I don't know anything about you, I'm assuming) - it's impossible to know what I was like to go through as many things as people like my Grandad and your character went through- and that's the weird thing, if these war veterans were complete BASTARDS, I'd forgive them for it, they've earned the right and been through enough for it to completely fuck them up, that it doesn't is a testament to them as people, they're made of stuff than our generation are simply void of.
  
  Good job with the 16mm, I'm sure it was hard work, and sometimes the editing is a bit jerky, but you gave it a go, and it suits the subject matter, I think.
  
  I see you made this back in 2003, and your profile says you were saving to make more shorts. Did you ever get round to making those shorts?. Maybe it'd be interesting for you to revisit the theme of WW2 as a backdrop to a story, I know it's something I'm definitely interested in doing.
  
  I don't think the war scenes were particularly realistic, but then that's never going to be easy unless you have the resources Spielberg and co had with Band Of Brothers, -your effort was remarkable, but if we're honest it falls a little short of realism.
  
  Great idea, great concept - and thanks for doing something so difficult and challenging, it's the sign of a great filmmaker and I hope you are continuing to make shorts, or who knows - maybe you've gone on to better stuff.
  
  So yeah, that's my 300th review. See you at 600!.

  I've really nothing to criticize about the majority of this film. The look is appropriate, if a bit underlit inside. The acting was pretty good. I understand that the man was having nightmares and that this is a true story, but perhaps a bit more foundation or some more close-up reaction from the old man when he realizes what he's done. Something other than a pan away, which... I've really nothing to criticize about the majority of this film. The look is appropriate, if a bit underlit inside. The acting was pretty good. Something other than a pan away, which is rather effective, but which smacks of another downer ending. I realize it's tough to be upbeat with a story like this, but I also think that some reaction to humanize the old man would go over well. read

  Yes, I do believe this has happened to Vietnam vets as well. How very sad. Camerawork: Not bad for first time using 16mm. Lighting was at times, a bit dark. Colorbalancing changed from scene to scene. Most notably in the living room scene - it looked a bit flat. Your framing and composition was pretty good. Edits were a bit choppy. Also, I do believe there may have... Yes, I do believe this has happened to Vietnam vets as well. How very sad.

  This was an engaging little film.Grainy and dark, good use of the flashback. The sound helped build tension and the acting did it's job. Pity the lighting was not handleld a little better, a dark subject, but you like to see the character go through the torment of his past. Good first effort, if it is a true story then even decades after WW11 there are casualties. Never Forget!!... This was an engaging little film.Grainy and dark, good use of the flashback.   This was a very good character driven piece, that held my interest throughout. Some of the flashbacks were a bit hard to make out, which was okay except for the fact that kept thinking that possibly a friend of his was going to get killed, and be his fault. The ending was unexpected, yet a satisfying conclusion to this film.
