  i liked it, the beginning was big, and you knew what was going on, thought during so with the random picture of iwo jima kind of confused me, i didnt know who of the men i was following. I got the whole story, that it was about everyman sacrifice in that war and in every war, but in truth, what made this characters different then the other people that were in wars. This moment... i liked it, the beginning was big, and you knew what was going on, thought during so with the random picture of iwo jima kind of confused me, i didnt know who of the men i was following. I got the whole story, that it was about everyman sacrifice in that war and in every war, but in truth, what made this characters different then the other people that were in wars. This moment in history has to be special. When the solider was on the ground, i didnt get what the fade in and fade out was about, was it like he was nervious? or did he black out from all the gun fire? Other then those, the angles were very well put together and i liked the editing and the music. In all i really liked this video. read

  Great opening with great music. The camerawork is nice and the edits are good. I love the voicework, awesome job finding the recording. The audio is very good. The acting is fine. The lighting was very good. The short is nice, moving. A nice effort. Continued Success!

  I have to say the music was indeed beautiful, very gentle and it really captured the heart of this film well, which for me was the senseless worthlesness of war, told from a single story.The photographs were nice, and fitted in well, I liked the slow oom back added that feel to what the image was representing.Only problem for me here was the credits at the end, I struggled... However this gentle story was handled well, certainly shot well liked the flickering on the film as if it was shot nearer the time, was that done on purpose? Anyway intresting effort here. read

  Thank you for making this film, Jared. It was first rate. I loved everything about this. The long, slow dissolves. The photos, the music. Your actor and you did a great job. The shot's you put side by side worked out pretty well. The way the last shot of Seth matching the anchorman on the flag at Iwo Jima was excellent... Just as a note in your synopsis, you mispelled... Thank you for making this film, Jared. It was first rate. I loved everything about this. The long, slow dissolves. The photos, the music. Your actor and you did a great job. The shot's you put side by side worked out pretty well. The way the last shot of Seth matching the anchorman on the flag at Iwo Jima was excellent... Just as a note in your synopsis, you mispelled Iwo Jima (no big deal). I loved the statement of the whole piece and you've got some real talent at editing, as well. The only Achille's heal to this whole film were the titles at the end (they were great statements)... but I could barely make them out. Excellent job and keep up the good work. read

  This is a very well done film for what it is. It is hard for me to judge this on its own because the film borrows (instead of creating) so much of its imagery from actually recorded events. I don't know if my feelings afterwards are due to my reaction to the film or the imagery. This was edited well. The sequences that were filmed specifically for the short looked a little... The sequences that were filmed specifically for the short looked a little cheesy compared with the "for real" footage. The whole thing was cut together well and scored well. I appreciate the effort that went into this film's creation, but in some ways I can't help but feel that anyone with access to these images and FCP could have done something similar (no real innovation). Good work. read

  It appeared the director borrowed a page out of a few books. This piece has a definate range of messages. If I were to be critical about anything it would be about inconsist transition use. That being said color/fidelity and style certainly rang through on this piece. Nice job intercutting various pieces of footage. Almost could be a montage in some parts. Excellent work,...   I really liked the technique you used, great editing. The overall production looks professional. But the concept is not too appealing to me, it looks like a patriotic commercial film to get young men into the army. Other than that, I have absolutely no criticism against your short, great work.

  I really like all the effects in this film, though I may have avoided colour in the historic video bits. I felt that took me out of it somewhat. Great overall look and feel though I wish there was a little more of a narrative. This felt like looking at a picture. I might have put a white outline on the text at the end too - that was hard to read. Overall very pretty.

  I really loved this short film. The split screen effects between real life and the past worked really well to give the impression that your actor was really there. There is alot of artistic appeal to this film. I feel that the photogrphy was well done as well as the visual effects. Keep up the great work. The only thing I would suggest doing is changing the color of the... I really loved this short film.   The concept was good. There's no doubt that the message behind the imagery is a very worthy one, and in this day and age, a very contemporary one.Nicely photographed and well edited, it's always good to see a filmmaker experimenting with techniques to bring his vision to life.This film triumphed and failed at the same time. Some of the re-enactment sequences felt small in scale... The concept was good. Some of the re-enactment sequences felt small in scale but the newsreel footage did help give us some impression of what that epic battle must have been like.This film was made with sincerity and it shows. read
