  Wow - I don't know if this was so good because I am currently listening to a Stephen King book - and frankly often do - or just because it was really well done. But I think it may be a bit of both. Very interesting imagery and very compelling overall. I would say that the fact I wanted to go and watch it again right away says a lot. The narration was great and the visuals completely...   Overall I think the short film "Under the Bridge" was a good attempt. The subject matter was startling, the phrase "sometimes truth is stranger than fiction" could not be more apt here. The camera work was well shot, but the editing was a little choppy. The Troll effects were good. The writing was well constructed. The voice over was clear and well delivered. I would watch...   I found your short to be initially compelling, but as it continued on it lost its allure for me. At first I was compelled by the grainy, black and white visuals. They fit well with the story line. However, the shift to color changed, at least for me, how I reacted to the uncovering of the tale, including your concerns for your son. Additionally, I found the time spent tying... I found your short to be initially compelling, but as it continued on it lost its allure for me. At first I was compelled by the grainy, black and white visuals. They fit well with the story line. However, the shift to color changed, at least for me, how I reacted to the uncovering of the tale, including your concerns for your son. Additionally, I found the time spent tying the area to Stephen King to be unnecessary.
  
  As an example of a similar full length film I direct you to the movie, "Brick," which also centered around the finding of a body. and used a black and white approach throughout the entire story, And not to be too picky, but as you narrate the story, slow your words so as to let their message settle in for the viewer. This is a somber tale, and one that should not be told too quickly. read

  Was really surprised by this short doc. Although simple in its use of camera, editing, and graphics - underneath it all was an extremely sophisticated idea. The story of dead homeless man in Bangor interwoven with the stories of author Stephen King (from the same town). The filmmaker placed this homeless man in the context of a Stephen King villain in an attempt to understand... Was really surprised by this short doc. Although simple in its use of camera, editing, and graphics - underneath it all was an extremely sophisticated idea. The story of dead homeless man in Bangor interwoven with the stories of author Stephen King (from the same town). The filmmaker placed this homeless man in the context of a Stephen King villain in an attempt to understand what his death has meant for the city and more importantly for the filmmaker himself a father.

  Having read the film description I was not expecting a riveting film but watched nevertheless. I actually found it very boring. If I wanted to know local history... theories on trolls.... where a local author lived and local views he used in his books... I could look elsewhere. This purported to be a film about one man's difficulties but that section of the film could... Having read the film description I was not expecting a riveting film but watched nevertheless.   Are the monster in our imagination or are they real. This seemed to be the question that the maker of this film was making. Trolls lived under bridges, and so did this man who was found dead under the bridge. Trolls steal children and the man was a child molester. It makes you wonder about the origins of these myths. Everything is based in fact in some shape or form. The nightmare... Are the monster in our imagination or are they real. This seemed to be the question that the maker of this film was making.   Since Mister T and MattPalmer more or less directed me to this film that was uploaded after I left, I feel obligated to review it. Having read all the reviews, it seems to have gone about 50/50 pro and con, which suggests TS itself put in in the running. It doesn't deserve it per previous reviewers, but perhaps they miss the point and TS got it, lol. There is no character... Since Mister T and MattPalmer more or less directed me to this film that was uploaded after I left, I feel obligated to review it.
  
  Having read all the reviews, it seems to have gone about 50/50 pro and con, which suggests TS itself put in in the running.
  
  It doesn't deserve it per previous reviewers, but perhaps they miss the point and TS got it, lol.
  
  There is no character arc or turning point or reveal. The Steven King stuff seems burglarized rather than creative. It's like the filmmaker wanted to send a message (Western Union?) before filming.
  
  Who believes anyone was really burned to death under a bridge and just a minute or two away? Probably no one, which really fubars the suspension of disbelief.
  
  So the film is about an unreliable narrator who probably killed and ignited someone under a bridge due to delusional paranoia. The unreliable narration is justifying his crime. This is the only interpretation that could make the film interesting and more than "timely" (2006.)
  
  The camera jumps as if to jump away from its subject, as if the narrator does not want to face his crime. The supposed dead person does not look dead but but looks like a camp out. There is no reason to believe the unreliable narrator when he says the dead person was burned or is even dead, or was a sex offender or, more specifically, was a violent sex offender. It's like watching Nancy Grace.
  
  So the brilliance of this film in in the unreliable narrator making stuff up. Even in that light, it still falls short compared to the many other excellent films here because not enough viewers got it. read

  This was an interesting little film. I enjoyed the stuff about trolls at the beginning, but the shift into the story about the deceased man near your home seemed a little cumbersome. I think the film would've had more impact if you'd made one point about this man's death. For example people removing the flowers was interesting, as was what you were saying about the mans character... This was an interesting little film. But for me the stuff about your fears for your sons safety weren't as interesting and it felt like you were interfering by putting your own opinion into the film. I wasn't blown away by the technical filmmaking skills, and I don't like to see still photos used, but overall I enjoyed this film. read

  The film itself was edited pretty well. I thought overall it is a piece that works by itself, but to what end? Maybe instead of fun facts about Stephen King there could have been a little investigative work done by the filmmaker to find out why and how the man was burning under the bridge? I think finding out a body was burned very close to your house is very odd and a bit... The film itself was edited pretty well. I thought overall it is a piece that works by itself, but to what end? I think finding out a body was burned very close to your house is very odd and a bit disturbing, but maybe not worth putting on film. It's eerie, yes. I just think it could've maybe used some kind of a statement. I guess 'you never know what's around the corner' is the statement here, but it didn't make me want to watch it again or find out more about the subject. I think it would help to have some kind of either interview by a police official about the burning, or maybe finding who found the body? And maybe some kind of philisophical thought about unseen dangers or fear or something. read

  The material here was well put together. The voiceover was good, although maybe a little on the melodramatic side at times. I think that even though it seemed to be shot on a consumer level cam that the shots etc were very inventive – but going for a 16:9 format would’ve maybe helped a bit rather than the square format that was used. I think the music was good but maybe overused. Liked how it tied up at the end with the Pennywise reference - really brought the narration full circle. Nice work. read
