  Judging by the title, I would never have paid to see this movie. Good thing I was assigned to review it, because I would've missed out on a very original spin on an sometimes overused idea. Virtual vs. Real takes two women up for the same role in a movie and faces them off against each other, but the catch is one is, well, virtual. In the attitude of such Philip K. Dick inspired... Judging by the title, I would never have paid to see this movie. Good thing I was assigned to review it, because I would've missed out on a very original spin on an sometimes overused idea. Virtual vs. Real takes two women up for the same role in a movie and faces them off against each other, but the catch is one is, well, virtual. In the attitude of such Philip K. Dick inspired movies like "I, Robot" and "Blade Runner", this short film puts a comic twist on the man vs. creation genre with a very enjoyable ending. The graphics were very realistic, especially for this project dating back to 2003, the script was very well thought out and the direction was very tasteful. I thoroughly enjoyed Virtual vs. Real and recommend that fans of science fiction and fantasy take ten minutes to check this out. read

  I was impressed by the modeling and cg integration in this short, but it's not enough to carry a thin storyline. The film sets up a good premise, but doesn't expand on it. If you replaced the cg characters with live actors, it would simply loose all interest. The filmmakers are obviously technically skilled, but need to take their creativity another step.

  technically; this is a very sound piece. From the writing to the Acting to the Directing to the Editing. It is very ironic that it was shot on 16mm instead of DVD, so as to give it a realistic look. It is also a very interesting piece in that it serves two Masters. One filmmaking & the other commercialism. It depicts the limitations of virtual combined with real, yet exhibits... technically; this is a very sound piece. From the writing to the Acting to the Directing to the Editing. It is very ironic that it was shot on 16mm instead of DVD, so as to give it a realistic look. It is also a very interesting piece in that it serves two Masters. One filmmaking & the other commercialism. It depicts the limitations of virtual combined with real, yet exhibits the possibilities commercially. Who needs a Barbie or a Ken when you can be; said aforementioned. I don't know whether it was intentional to blur the line, but it was acheived and to that extent off goes my head... Uh, my HAT. read

  Creative short with nice mixtures of reality and virtual. I did have a complaint for the virtual girl she had a shorter head it didnt seem to fit her body. the story was original and yep on the money on how other ladies do for a part in a movie or video. The Concept camera and lgihting and special effects were so on the money. Your so money you dont even know it!

  I liked the concept of the movie. It is quite creative. The interaction between the live person and the virtual person is convincing. Taylor's voice was right on the money: seductive and warm. Calm enough to be threatening. The actress playing Sara is gorgeous, though she overacts a bit. The final shot of her walking away with the metallic dress on jolted me into attention... Beeauutiful!The introduction of Taylor could have been more dramatic. She is after all other-wordly. The dialog is somewhat mundane. Just because the dialog is real, it does not mean is interesting. Camera angles could have been more interesting also. A for concept, C for dialog, C for camera work, B for acting. Overall grade: B-. read

  I thought the idea was clever, but felt the film could have been a little shorter. The voice of the virtual girl was perfect. I wanted to see the casting director to put down the phone and deal directly with the girls....Otherwise, I was extremely impressed. The "real" girl acted quite well considering no one was really there. That is difficult to find in an amateur actress...   Quite a good idea, but the film in its current edit has a few technical flaws. The main one was that it broke the old "crossing the line" law a few times. (Its an imaginary line between the eye contact of two people having a conversation... you have to keep the camera view on one side of that line throughout the conversation (see the final scene with the real woman taking to... The other is that I felt the middle of the film got a little bogged down with the changing clothes gag… and the filmmakers could get away with a third of this footage (all the same concept, and it would be impossibly for the real woman to change that many times... a slight suspension of disbelief.. the virtual woman was more believable than that.) Overall though, its a very well thought out idea, but just a little rough in filmmaking terms around the edges. read

  I thought this film was definitely a great way to combine CGI with live action. And considering the film probably didn't have a substantial budget, the CGI was done well. The film lost my attention when the girls started changing into different colored outfits. It was cute at first but then kept going. Overall, as a cute short example of how to combine CGI with live action... I thought this film was definitely a great way to combine CGI with live action.   This was well-done. The logistics with your actress were probably difficult, but you did a pretty good job overall. I would have suggested some additional planning for interview-style "over the shoulder" shots between the two ladies for added realistic effect, that would have beem a nice bonus on the part near the beginning when they were talking. Funny gag with the two different PDA's / remotes. I can't believe the virtual girl didn't notice the PDA was now blue, kind of a big difference. Anyway, great job overall, please keep up the hard work and produce more movies, you have lots of talent. read

  Cool movie beginning to end. Nice interplay between the real and the unreal. I'm left with only one question: Why did Taylor Creative need to work? She doesn't need the basics of food, clothing or shelter. Does she need the acclaim? Would mean you could pay less, get more, and set up a Virtual Person's Rights' Network somewhere down the line. The camerawork was good, and there's... Cool movie beginning to end. Nice interplay between the real and the unreal. I'm left with only one question: Why did Taylor Creative need to work? The camerawork was good, and there's a nice contrast in the human vs. virtual voices. Were it strictly audio, Taylor would have gotten the job. Taylor is a bit blocky, but throws an excellent shadow. Good animation. Also nice contrasts in tech jargon vs. normal conversation. A bit too many wardrobe changes, but all were welcome. Nice film overall. read
