  This was an interesting story, it read very autobiographical so I'm presuming that it's based around your own experiences. I thought you did an excellent job of conveying the mundane duties of the not so well paid staff in the medical world, although the story didn't really have a solid ending I sensed that it didn't really need to because there would be more of the same waiting... I thought you did an excellent job of conveying the mundane duties of the not so well paid staff in the medical world, although the story didn't really have a solid ending I sensed that it didn't really need to because there would be more of the same waiting the next day and the day after that. Your dialogue read very well, you obviously have a good ear for the people around you. I can't offer you any real advice on this one because it was so personal a story. As I said an interesting story, well written and much enjoyed. read

  This is a very well written piece. The wording is most excellent, creating the right amount of images to relate the story and doing so creatively. The story itself was interesting and had my attention throughout. The dialogue is well crafted and believable - giving a very natural feel. I can't say for certain that this is a piece written from experience, but the writer seems... This is a very well written piece. I can't say for certain that this is a piece written from experience, but the writer seems to know the subject matter and conveys it realistically. I have no criticism of this story - I think it written very competently and stands just the way it is. Good job. read

  Solid story. Didn't get me thinking much though. Maybe it'll get me now while i write this review, or it just isn't my day for thinking about this matter. I understood the point, and i think that showing it by that electrocuted guy was good enough, yeah everything comes to an end, and that's the only certainty. Ruben thinks his situation is very tough, it sure is, and he can't... Solid story. Didn't get me thinking much though. Maybe it'll get me now while i write this review, or it just isn't my day for thinking about this matter. I understood the point, and i think that showing it by that electrocuted guy was good enough, yeah everything comes to an end, and that's the only certainty. Ruben thinks his situation is very tough, it sure is, and he can't wait to become a paramedic. That's what he means when he sais in the end that all will come to an end? Or is it the fact that he can't forget about that young guy died that day? I think he's maybe full of things he wishes to see them end. Maybe he just needs few more things he doesn't wish for to end. Maybe one thing is Monty's possible return... At least a hope stays.
  Concept and story. Nothing specila about these aspects, not surprisingly good or bad, something that can be expected. Story is told very realistically IMHO, pretty goo, i liked the style.
  Characters. I like Ruben's character. It sort of resembles to me, i kind of think of him the type that embraces what needs to be embraced carry the burden while it needs to be carried and complain a bit but really takes all thing very well inside. Maybe i projected on Ruben's char. :) Not much of other characters except few minor information, and Monty that's made quite a good, almost totally opposite to Ruben, stood in as a good contrast of Ruben through the story. Character relations are done quite good. Not too many contacts as there are obviously people he rarely sees, and there are other ones.
  Dialogue. Average but i'd go with good as i like the realistic set-ups you make in particular scenes of the story, and i think dialogue goes along well with that.
  Structure was pretty good, most of the story felt well paced and well timed. It's not perfect as there's a bit of the feeling "something's missing" in the end in terms of story drive so not excellent but felt it was real good.
  
  In the end, just to say i liked reading, it was a quick read, didn't get disappointed afterwards so compliments to the writer. :) Keep up the good work.

  Thanks for the opportunity to read this extremely good short story. You seem to know the world you describe quite well and your characters come to life on the page. While there are no great revelations or realizations, you nicely capture the motives (and lack of motivation) for the various characters in this tale. Best of luck!   after reading the story i believe the author has had a sound training in the field of either medicine or paramedics. the technicalities were taken care of well. the story overall somehow lacks a theme. to start off with, the usage of the technical terms for medicines etc could have been controlled. i as someone who is not well versed with the technical jargons felt a little... after reading the story i believe the author has had a sound training in the field of either medicine or paramedics. the technicalities were taken care of well.

  the overall story, of what i could assess, was about the narrator's experience. but it seems that the story tries to cover too many things at one time, the attrition of employees, the friend who has left, the patient who comes into the hospital, his death, the career aspiration of the narrator etc. in the process it is not able to sumptuously grasp either of the plots.
  
  probably a single theme or a single dominant theme with sub themes playing around it would be a good way to attempt a story.
  
  i however liked the way the emotional aspect of the narrator was treated. quite mature.

  Certainty is a well written story with existential elements, graphic when it needs to be, subtle when it can get away with it. The structure and pacing are neatly crafted. the author has a good grasp of the "show, don't tell" aspect of storytelling, for which I'm always grateful. It wasn't apparent that the story was in first person until the second paragraph, allowing the...   It wasn't apparent that the story was in first person until the second paragraph, allowing the reader to become immersed in the story before realizing it. Nice approach.
  
  Very minor details:
  
  pg 4: "lot's of things" - no apostrophe
  The fact that the nurse was pretty was a little repetitive.
  
  Its probably just me, but when Benny's coworker said "your boyfriend quit", I began to wonder if I was mistaken in my assumption that Benny was male, and that distracted me for a little while.
  
  Overall, good story, well told. read

  I really enjoyed your story it was so interesting and real to me. I love the dialogue you have written it's great especially that of Benny and Monty they really seem to care for each other in a sort of brotherly way. I love that conversation when Monty is watching TV and Benny walks in, it is so witty and the remarks and sarcasms are great! I like the scenario in the emergency... I really enjoyed your story it was so interesting and real to me. I like the scenario in the emergency room and the imagery you created of the aftermath of what had happened to the deceased patient, it was all so gruesome and real. The dialogue between Torres and Benny was great as well. It all ended so quickly. If I could say anything constructively critical it would be that the ending had left me wondering possibly what Benny was going to do with himself? I really enjoyed the narrative of Monty he seems like a really cool character, nice work! read

  I really don't know what to make of your story. Monty quit. Benny had to hang in there. I'm sorry, maybe it's a bad time for me to review. The story was well written and easy to follow and showed your professionalism and mastery of grammer. I just kind of, well, expected something more exciting.   Great writing, man. Your technique is infallible. Everything is in the right spot and, as abstract as it may sound, the timing is well-laid out. Your characters reveal themselves through dialog exceptionally well in that they speak like people, not characters, and they express themselves in half points and spontaneously conceived thought processing as if their words were not...   The descriptive quality in the story is spot-on, moving at a rapid pace, never bogged down, but definitely highlighted by the occasional creative explanation of time, character and situation.
  
  The atmosphere in your story is abundantly served in television but is bursting at the seams to be told in a literary light. With all the traumatic possibilities that could be explored in an emergency room hospital, I'm surprised we don't see more of it, so kudos for capitalizing on such a rare scenario - and by the way your verbiage seems to have come right out of some late-night, high-frequency trauma center. Very captivating. I particularlay like how all these characters, even the secondary ones, are vulnerable to their surroundings and understanding of each other. Again, something hardly seen.
  
  The only criticism I could find (and, boy, I had to look hard) was that you might have used "past" where "passed" might have been warranted.
  
  Good. Damn. Job. read
