  I have reviewed a previous work of this writer's, which was a touching story about a young girl called Nell. I enjoyed that story very much because it was a brave look at a subject we don't much care to think of, however, this was a totally different approach, to take an object like a mirror and let it narrate a story takes real skill and maturity as a writer and Debra pulled... I enjoyed that story very much because it was a brave look at a subject we don't much care to think of, however, this was a totally different approach, to take an object like a mirror and let it narrate a story takes real skill and maturity as a writer and Debra pulled it off with real panache. I loved the way that she contrasted the faces via the mirror's memories of them at different stages their lives.
  And I actually felt the emotions of the women as the mirror observed their happiness at been reunited. The only minus point was this sometimes read more like an essay than a short story, but that's a minor point, it worked for me. This was a pleasure to review and read. I'll look forward to reviewing more of your work. read

  This was a sweet little piece. I don't have a whole lot to say about it, it painted a very lovely picture and the prose was very nice. You have a strong visual style. It is poetic in a way. For some reason, this reminded me a bit of reading H.P. Lovecraft's "The Outsider", although that story is different...something about the POV and the reveal at the end. In any event,... This was a sweet little piece. I don't have a whole lot to say about it, it painted a very lovely picture and the prose was very nice. You have a strong visual style. It is poetic in a way.

  This is a free-will review. I wanted to read this story because of the title. I was curious because I've written a story called 'Reflections' too, and I wanted to see if there was any similarity between mine and yours. As it turns out, they are quite, quite different, but both touch on the 'magic' a mirror can perform in witnessing human stories. Your story was a very moving... This is a free-will review. As it turns out, they are quite, quite different, but both touch on the 'magic' a mirror can perform in witnessing human stories.
  
  Your story was a very moving and intimate tale in the lives of four generations of women. It was crisply written and eloquent. I liked it a lot. Well done.

  I shouldn't have chosen to read this while I was sitting at my desk at work because I almost cried. From the moment I began reading this story captivated me. It was very well written. A heartwarming story told from a very different perspective, that of a mirror. You're use of words was excellent. You kept it simple, which I liked. I didn't need a dictionary to figure out what... A heartwarming story told from a very different perspective, that of a mirror. You're use of words was excellent. You kept it simple, which I liked. I didn't need a dictionary to figure out what you were saying and yet it pulled me in and I wanted to keep reading more. I wanted to get to the end. I was very surprised at the end to see that you were speaking about four generations and not three as I originally thought. A great read. read

  A nice trip down a memory lane. I like the unique perspective in which this story was told. To see a person grow through the memory of her mirror is a really cool idea and I think it paid off. Its hard to critique anything to be honest. You might stretch out some the history ie the pregnancy. But as a stand alone piece I think it holds itself pretty well. A good short story...   It’s impossible for me to criticize this story objectively because it’s the antithesis of anything I’d ever write or anything I’d gravitate toward if I were looking for something to read. I knew from the first paragraph. To be brutally honest, I vowed to plow through it because it’s short. I could slam it if I wanted to. I could call it grandmotherly or sentimental. But... It’s impossible for me to criticize this story objectively because it’s the antithesis of anything I’d ever write or anything I’d gravitate toward if I were looking for something to read. I knew from the first paragraph. To be brutally honest, I vowed to plow through it because it’s short.
  
  I could slam it if I wanted to. I could call it grandmotherly or sentimental. But the fact remains: I cried when I read this. And I hate to admit that because I’m a cynical old creep and I suppose on some level, I pride myself on my creepy cynicism. I found the story beautiful, poignant and timeless. That’s all I have to say. If I were editing a literary magazine, I’d never publish this story. I’d say “it needs more ‘splosions.” So I guess it’s cool because it made me re-examine my taste and worldview. So kudos to you.

  I’m not familiar with the challenge so can’t speak to that but I thought this had a very cool POV and was a touching story. I liked the descriptions of the different generations, their similarities and the differences. The story unfolds a little too easily with the mirror’s exposition. I wonder at the logistics of the three generations writing each of those messages on the...   The story unfolds a little too easily with the mirror’s exposition. I wonder at the logistics of the three generations writing each of those messages on the mirror and I was a little confused by the entrance of the fourth woman.
  
  “I will never stop looking for you…” was a nice touch.

  I really like how your story uses the mirror device to tell a story of three generations. The tone of the piece flows well and I liked the ending. However, I found the first part a bit flat, and wished if you could describe less of what makes the character normal. In my opinion, the writing is more interesting if it shows tension, or something surprising. Maybe other readers...   Maybe other readers feel different about this, but it bothered me a little when your story almost became melodramatic. Because of all the crying.

  Page 2. I like the way it starts. Very touching and descriptive. Kind of cool coming from the perspective of a mirror! I don’t know if I would have dared try that, but so far so good. You do a good job describing the woman growing up from a child. I love the way you describe middle age, lol… Page 3. Did she have a baby and give it away for adoption? Then was reunited... Page 2.

  Hmmm… I see what you’re doing with the great-grandmother, but I think that makes it a bit confusing toward the end. I get it. I’m curious to see if anyone else gets confused by it.
  
  I love love LOVE the idea of the picture in the corner of the mirror.
  
  In the end, how is the little girl sitting on the mothers lap? Is there a chair? A couch?
  
  Overall, this was awesome! Just a little tweaking at the end (maybe, wait for other reviews). read
