Thomas J. Madden is a former Vice President and #2 man at NBC who literally wrote the book on Spin! Heís the author of SPIN MAN, his widely-acclaimed, nationally published memoir. A graduate of Temple University, he earned a Master's in Communications at The Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as a journalist, working as a reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer and was Director of Public Relations for American Broadcasting Companies. From 1979 to 1981, he was Vice President, Assistant to the President of NBC in New York, who was then Fred Silverman. In 1981, he co-founded TransMedia with his wife Angela, which became one of the largest PR firms in Florida. The firmís clients included AT&T, Bank Leumi, Drexel Burnham Real Estate, Krispy Kreme, Boehringer Ingelheim, Jordache, US Polo Association, Kemin Consumer Care, Cornell University Medical Center, Jackson Memorial Foundation, Fidelity Investments, MetLife, Rexall Sundown, Precision Response Corporation, The City of New York and the countries of Israel and Norway. For his exploits in PR, he has been profiled in Time Magazine, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal. Speeches he wrote have been reprinted in The New York Times and Vital Speeches of the Day. Among awards he has received is a "Bronze Anvil" from The Public Relations Society of America, of which he is an accredited member.     This eloquent story ends almost as quickly as the main character's muddled life as a soldier. Yet the writer's talent gives sharp and poignant outline to someone whose ember inside had turned cold, whose view of life was a series of slides, one replacing the other, who couldn't recall the grocery items he had bagged.     Okay. You know when you're going to die so that makes you invincible for the time being. Reminded me of Bill Murray driving head-on along train tracks toward a fast moving train.     Just wanted to drop a note to say how great it is that you're a "reformed" writer. It's never easy for us to admit when we've made mistakes and I greatly applaud you for getting back on the horse and improving your work and your process as a writer.
