I'm a consumate movie fanatic (read: I go at least once a week). My film collection ranges from "Citizen Kane" to "The Toxic Avenger." I like to be well versed in all things cinema. Same goes for what I like to read....

A review of My Fairy Godmotherby tomasy on 05/05/2013This was a cute little story. While you could pretty much see the resolution coming the moment she mentioned going back to his place, it still worked really well. I liked that it didn't try to be more than it was, just a quickie story about a guy and an old woman. No more, no less. A fun story with a sense of whimsy. The only part I had a bit of an issue with was her dialogue... read

A review of Manifest Destinyby tomasy on 05/05/2013Wow. This was a fascinating piece of sci-fi. Very well thought out and, with well rounded characters and situations. I had a real sense of the surroundings on Nirvana right from the get-go. Your descriptions are terrific. I can tell you have a great sense for the visual. I could even almost hear the planet's music through your words. Some really great lines, too. "The symphony... read

A review of The Gospel of Ryanby tomasy on 05/04/2013This was a pretty and very touching story. You really get a sense of the setting in the beginning of the story. I like it's slightly dystopian look at the future. Reminded me of a some of the stories and songs I enjoyed back in the 1980's, under the cloud of the Cold War. I also really like that within this dystopian setting you give us a beautiful coming-of-age story, full... read

Hello and thanks very much for your review of The Gospel of Ryan. I'm glad you enjoyed it. As you are no doubt aware it's a chapter from a much longer story, a novel, the story of Eibhlin told by different people.

tomasy - thank you for reviewing A Missive. I've been tinkering with different styles, so your comment about more literary prose was appreciated. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I have no clue how this is supposed to notify me when a review is in.

Thanks for your review of "Messin' with His Head". I'm glad you enjoyed the point of view. I'm sure you know how nice it is when a reader feels exactly what you intended. Others have found the 2nd Person a little distracting.

I'm not sure what you mean by the formatting issue with apostrophes, but I can guess you are probably referring to the single quotation marks used as speech marks rather than the double ones that Americans use. Single quotation marks are now much more commonly used in British publications, so I prefer to use them too most of the time.
Thanks again and I hope you'll read a few more Eibhlin stories, as this is generally the one that comes up with the worst reviews!

But thanks again.

Sorry about the page numbers, too. I can't believe I forgot them. Oops. :)
Hi again,
Just a thought... maybe for your own benefit, rewrite one or two pages from a different POV. First Person perhaps? Maybe YOU will find that it reads better. I had no problem with it.
And you are very right... It is nice.
Best,
